I know this is going to sound weird to you, but I have to ask: does anyone else have a set of soft subtles craft spots that have started to ooze???
I bought the sscs a few months ago. I opened the cardboard box, ooh'd and ahh'd, then put them in my ink drawer. They have been stored flat and the individual spots have not been opened. I didn't have occasion to use them until tonight. When I opened the box, I noticed that some of the labels had dark, wet, oily splotches on the sides -- right where the top of the spot case meets the bottom. Some of the oil splotches were so large that the oil had spread to the top of the labels.
I peeked inside the still-unopened spots, and it looks like the ink in the pads has started to separate. The oily stuff is DEFINITELY coming from the inside of the spot containers -- it did not come from a spill on the box. The only oily stuff on the box is on the inside bottom, where the oily stuff from the sides of the spots fell on it when I examined the spots a few minutes ago.
I have several craft pads that are full size and none of them have ever done this. The spots were stored in my house just like the rest of my ink pads, laying flat, out of direct sunlight, in average household temperature, not crushed or jostled or abused in any way.
Please someone chime in and say you've seen this happen before! Surely I'm not the only one with oozy craft spots!!! Or am I...?
I'm sorry that you had to go through the hassle of having them replaced, Melanie, but I'm glad I'm not the only one and It's good to know the SU stands by the quality of its products!
I bought them as soon as the new catty came out and didn't use them for a couple months. It was probably a quirky batch. And yes SU does stand beside all their products, I'm a demo, and SU was extremely helpful and accomadating.
Mindy, to answer your question, they were stored upright at the time on my shelf. I now am storing them upside down and they are just fine and juicy
Melanie
not trying to hijack here but my classic black is almost too juicy!!! If I put the slightest bit of pressure on my stamp while inking it....it gets all splotchy and therefore so does the impression of whichever stamp I am using!! I have to remind myself to ink it very lightly so I dont make a mess!! None of my other classic pads do this...I dont have any craft so I cant comment on those!! anyone else have this problem?
A few of my FULL-size craft pads have oozed. Made my storage box and other pads a mess on the outside. They did however replace them no questions asked. my box however I wiped out with paper towels, it just looks yucky.
I had one of my classic spots do that. I had not used them in a while and my gable green had oozed onto the box. Then I went to use it a while later and it was dry.
I store them upside down now, I didn't think to at first. I have 3 groups of spots, and have only had this happen with the one spot.
