Default crayon resist; do you ever use different colored crayons?

Or do you only use the white crayon? I couldn't find my white crayon the other night when I was making sympathy cards and used a yellow crayon instead. It looked really nice actually. I also wondered what I would do after my white crayon got too small. I know you can use a candle, but I have big paw hands and bust them up so easily.

I have done this once before as well. Although, when school supplies were on sale after school started I just bought a bunch of the small packs for really cheap and took all the white crayons out for myself! The rest went in a bucket for the boys.

I used different colored crayons before. If you buff the paper afterwards, the color comes off. That is if you use glossy. I also used colored crayons on regular white and then watercolored over the entire image. It's pretty and the colors stay.

When my white "hides", I use any light color I can find.

I have tried using a black crayon on a bee stamp. It was cute. I think I like the effect of white better. Maybe I should try another light colored crayon instead.... hmmm....

I must go stamp now Thanks for inspiring me.

I can't find the post now, but I remember NYNan posted that she had used metallic crayons with very good results!

We did this technique at one of my workshops, and found any color crayon worked on glossy because it rubs off. However, if you use any other kind of paper, better to use white. I also found that you can order a box of all white (or any other specific color) crayons from Dick Blick online.

Default Another idea

I know folks are big fans of the crayon resist technique...but I hate that SU doesn't sell crayons. So I do this technique using the versamarker. It goes with every paper type, the duel ends give you a ton of versatility. And for those of us who are SU demos...it's in the catalog.

I tried this technique for the first time the other day and I actually used a regular white pencil instead of a crayon!! It worked beautifully!

I recieved a swap at Leadership where they used I believe Season's Sketches (little girl in water?) and colored her skin peacha nd her dress yellow and then did a 2 color brayer over top of that , caramel for sand and blue for sky, very pretty and very simple to make I imagine
I'm going to try to dig that one out and post it
