Hi Ladies
I am caught - I love the cuddlebug- and have many pieces that I have "rolled off" ready to make into cards( i don't own one of these babies yet)- I really want this handy dandy little gadget- but then I had the chance to view and try the Spellbinder machine at the Scrapfest in Kitchener-(kicking myself for not buying it there for cheap) - and oh la la! Now I know that you can use both products with either machine- but I am caught- I really want one or the other- not both- I am concerned with the cuddlebug being made of plastic- if the handle( arm you turn) will eventually break- where as the spellbinder seems good and secure- and definitely not plastic- How many of you have both? Which do you prefer?
Has anyone had their cuddlebugs break? Are they fixable- or do you need to replace it? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!

I've heard that there is a bit of a learning curve with the Wizard, but once you've made it past that you're good to go. I've been wanting a Wizard for a while, but am making due with my Cuttlebug for now.
I am so glad you asked this question because I want to know the same thing! Any more comments from you experienced cuttlebug/spellbinder users? Thanks in advance!

I decided on the Cuttlebug because I had a 50% coupon. So it only cost me about $40 at Michaels.
Also, I like that you can readily buy the accessory plates and embossing folders at Michaels, too. I like to be able to just go to a store and get something when I need it, and not have to order on line.
The Cuttlebug is great for embossing, and that's what I do mostly. I hardly ever use it for die cuts.
It is super easy to use, and very lightweight and portable. It has a very small "footprint" and it doesn't take up much room on my stamping table when I use it.

Love my bug...it is at least a year old now. I use all the differenty dies and folders and (knocking on wood) have not broken any plates yet. I would not part with my bug for anything....love love love it.
Blessings.
LOVE LOVE LOVE my cuttlebug. Have had it almost a year and have had no problems. I love how you can use almost anything in it too!!!!
What a great little machine and at the price--you can't beat it!
I have both! The cuttlebug is lighter weight and easier to use. It is smaller, and therefore takes up less space.
The wizard is heavy and I think a bit cumbersome. Even with a learning curve, the plates have a tendency to shoot out of the machine so it is definitely not kid friendly and I've banged up a few fingers using this thing. (Minor banging, nothing serious....)
I bought the wizard because I thought I would get a better result using spellbinders' dies. I don't know if I am getting a better result because I haven't tried the nestabilities and other spellbinders dies in the cuttlebug.
All this, and my advice is to wait and see what the Spellbinders Excalibur is all about. If nothing else, its entry in the market will cause the Wizard price to drop like a hot potato, IMHO.
[the following is specifically addressed to Santa:]
The Excalibur sounds awesome. It is an electronic version of the Wizard and I suspect will address all my concerns. You plop the sandwiches in the machine and they automatically go through -- no cranking at all! I have no idea if the Excalibur will work with Cuttlebug embossing folders and dies, though.

I'm still using my dinosaur red sizzix machine, but I did make the happy discovery that I can use the cuttlebug embossing folders with my Sizzix machine and I love love love embossing with them. If I was going to buy another machine right now it would be the Cuttlebug for sure.

I've been wondering about the same thing, Joan. I keep thinking the xcalibur sounds great, but I can't give up my embossing folders. I'd love to know more about the xcalibur and when it's coming out.
Thanks Ladies!
I browsed more of the forums- I too love the 'bug" - well all those great templates- I was able to browse through the forums some more and found tons of information between the two comparisons- guess I will hold off for a bit and see what / which of the scrapbook stores in my area brings in first.
Thanks for sharing

I am still loving my old Sizzix too! I like the handle instead of turning...better for my carpal tunnel! BTW....I very easily use the nestabilities in it also, as well as all the cuttlebug folders and dies!
I was at Scrapfest too and I watched the lady demo the Wizard. I didn't buy it there either, but I did find somewhere that was reasonable and I can happily say that I have my wizard right here beside me. I was playing with it last night and I have to tell you.... I am going to sell my CB. the wizard embosses so much easier. I like that it's all metal and I don't find it hard to use at all. I won't be buying another "B" plate again. (I have broken a few using my Nesties in it). I am sold on the wizard
How do you get the cuttlebug folders to work in the wizard; I have tried for two days and can't get them to go through; the rollers just rock back and forth but will not move the folder through. I noticed that my embossing platform is warped; just got the machine Saturday so it certainly isn't from use!
I bought my Wizard about a year ago, and I use it all the time. I love its solidity. Once I put it down it stays put, even though I'm pumping all sorts of stuff through it. I haven't had any trouble getting Cuttlebug embossing folders through it, and once I learned to "catch" the sandwich as it comes through the rollers, I haven't had any flying dies, either. I've used Fiskars texturing plates, Sizzix and Cuttlebug dies, and brass embossing stencils in it, and they all work perfectly, as long as you follow the right sandwich recipe; I wouldn't trade it for anything.
