I sit mostly, but if I have a really detailed background stamp, I sometimes need to stand to get alot of pressure. I am short...5 foot on the dot... I stamp sitting on a highbacked stool that reaches my counter perfectly.
I have a Counter Height island from Ikea...and I stand...it makes it much easier for me to get things in my room as I am not having to get up and down...

I'm in a wheelchair, so sitting down. I find I can't use some of the bigger background stamps. Can't get the pressure. If friends have them I'll sometimes ask them to do a few images for me.
I'm 5'7" and sometimes I stand and sometimes I sit. My table is folding chair height so it's comfortable when I'm sitting and just a little low when I'm standing.

Just a tip for you. Turn your background stamp rubber side up, ink it up as desired, lay your paper (cut to size) on top and then run a brayer over the paper. You will get a nice even print!
Rolly, do you have a big shot? Have you considered putting an impression plate down , paper down on it, lay the stamp down, and then roll through? Not sure it'd work, but maybe...
I know for a lot of mine, I have to lay the stamp face up, put the card on top, and hold down with fingers while I rub it around to get it to work.
I'm tall - 5' 10" - and I find counter height too short for me to stand and work at, so I have a comfortable, adjustable office chair that I use at my old kitchen table and computer desk. It has wheels so I roll around the room (its only 10' x 12 and packed full) to get my supplies. The only time I have to stand up is if something is up higher on a shelf. I use the big rock-o-block for my background stamps (everything is unmounted) and it works really well.

Instead of stamping onto the cardstock, turn the stamp over and place the cardstock on the image and run your fingers over the cardstock to get the image.
And to answer the question - sit and I'm 5'7"

I mostly sit....I have a probably regular height desk with my computer and my stamp supplies nearby-ish....;) I'm 5'4" but I do stand sometimes for stamps that need extra pressure obviously since I'm a shortie!

I do this with some of my difficult or big stamps at times....just be careful to not jiggle the paper and it works fine! I also have an old style sizzix that I use just as pressure to stamp my large wood mounted stamps...works like a charm!
My standing has less to do with my height as it does with the fact that my supplies are all over the place for lack of a dedicated stamping room. It's just easier to stamp standing since I'm usually already up going from one place to the next getting supplies.
Gosh, you're mostly all so tall. I'm 5'2" although most people are sure I'm taller. One of the guys in work wouldn't believe it till he measured me .
I generally sit for smaller images and sentiments, stand for background images and some larger ones - or if DH is sitting at my desk . I guess I'm comfortable with either; if I'm standing anyway I'm not going to sit down just to stamp one image but I don't like to do much colouring standing as the desk isn't really high enough.
