Has anyone tried to use a Cuttlebug die in their Zipemate? Can you share the layering process PLEASE? I really won't want to buy another machine if my ZEM will work. My ZEM handles the Cuttlebug embossing folders beautifully.
The CB dies are just a bit too chunky for the ZEM, aren't they? I've had some success using something fractionally thinner instead of the perspex plate at the top - I cut up an old self-healing cutting mat that had got too tatty to use for its original purpose into pieces of the right size. That works OK as long as I'm cutting card but I can't do chipboard that way. I keep meaning to try making a slimmer bottom platform somehow but not getting round to doing it!
I'd love to hear if anyone has great ideas on this too!
I use the cuttlebug dies in my zip e mate and they work just fine. I am out of town at the moment so can't give you the details right this minute. I just thought I'd let you know that it does work so you don't go out and buy a new machine! I'll subscribe to this so I remember to post the details when I get home. HTH

What plates do you have abcima? Somehow your answers sounds like you have more to experiment with than I do! I have the cutting platform (white, very thick and chunky), the Sizzlix platform (white, much slimmer) and the cutting mat (clear). What else is there?
Well, I do not have a ZEM but I do have a Sizzix Big Kick and all my dies work in it - Cuttlebug, QuikCutz, Wizard. I did have to "practice" the layering to find the right one to work and wound up buying the Wizard's tan mat. It's sort of a rubbery mat you put on top of your die in place of one of the sandwhich sheets. I hope I'm making myself clear here!!!
I've found most dies to be adaptable to the machines out there - which is good for us. Can you imagine having to buy each machine for each die maker? OY Vey!!!!
That sounds about right. Sometimes, depending on the brand of diecut, I have to add shims of clear plastic that I cut from packaging. As a matter of fact, I always use a shim in order to protect my plates. I also have a black rubbery embossing pad that came with the machine that I use with the cuttlebug embossing folders. But if you don't have that, you can also use a red rubber plumbing pad (don't know what it is called, but you can get it at a hardware store). I hope that made sense.
Thanks abcima, I do have the black rubbery mat - I forgot about that! I always use that with the CB folders and that comes out great. My problem with the CB dies is not adding shims, it's just marginally too fat to go through cleanly with the standard cutting platform and the Sizzix platform is waaaaay too thin - I'd have more shim than platform! QK and even Bosskut dies go through just fine but the CB ones are just a bit thicker in their construction so they don't. I think machines vary a bit so maybe I've just got one with a stiffer mechanism or something. I'll try some more experiments!
Stampinstrack responded with this personal message below. Thanks.
To use Cuttlebug dies in the Zip E Mate, you run them through just like you would a sizzlet: *use your zip e slim cutting/embossing platform *place your cuttlebug die foam side up *position cardstock over top of die *place your sizzlets cutting mat (the one for sizzlits) on top of material *roll through machine
To use Cuttlebug embossing folders in the Zip E Mate:
*place embossing folder on platform
*cover with embossing foam
*roll through machine
