OK, so I have not yet signed up for this, but every month I toy with the idea...
Questions:
1) If you sign up say now, can you see past gallery submissions?
2) I started to sign up the other day and noticed something about putting cookies on your computer---I am totally computer lingo stupid---what does this mean? Does it make the computer run slower. I couldn't handle this thing running any slower!
Yes, you can see past galleries if you sign up now.
As for the cookies, I don't know much about that. I didn't have to add anything or enable anything to become a member. I think most computers already have the necessary cookies to view the site, but I could be totally wrong....
LOVE the way Daven explained cookies in an earlier post, so here's his explanation (edited):
Quote:
any use of the site will save cookies on your system. again, this is just a fact of life on this and many other sites around the web. cookies are the most commonly used way for a site to keep track of your personal preferences - I see cookies on my system right now from ebay, yahoo and google, for instance. I don't know your particular circumstances, but for the vast majority this shouldn't be a cause for concern. the information in your splitcoast cookie files is not accessible by others over the internet, and let's face it, the potential risk of damage is pretty low anyway - we don't ask for or store anything personal other than what's in your profile. a splitcoast cookie is an innocuous little morsel.
cookies shouldn't make your computer run any slower that I know of. If I eat too many, I run slower, though. . .
Actually - this from the wife of Communications Officer! - you should clean out your "cookies" and "temp" files often! He is constantly "cleaning" the computer...... At the top of your screen right now you will see "TOOLS" and in there you will find "Internet Options" then you just delete cookies and delete files... easy then about once a month or so my husband does a defrag on the computer....
Now of those have slowed me down in my internet surfing.....usually that is the internet not the computer!!!
