Default DH used mono to wrap gifts!

I kept hearing this stripping noise and knew my DH was wrapping Christmas presents. I thought he was using a roll of packing tape......but what to my wondering eyes should appear? He was using my monoadhesive, and LOTS of it. He was running entire strips of it along the package ends and just slapping down the wrapping paper so it would stick. I gasped and grabbed it from him. He thought it made the packages look nice. I said ya, ya, now give me back my mono! Little does he know that I have 20 more refills from Viking in the drawer. But geez, that's precious stuff! This is just after my recruit accidentally took my mono home with her last week after a workshop. I only had one so I begged her to mail it to me. She sent mine back along with a "spare" for a Christmas present. Oh my poor monoadhesive!

DH did come home last night with two dozen roses though for our 19th "date" anniversary. We were high school sweethearts at 16! I had totally forgotten with all the hustle and bustle of Christmas. Maybe I'll make him some of those "love coupons" that Beate has in the DD gallery this month.

Have a great day everyone, it's a beautiful morning here.....

You know I never even thought to use the mono until someone mentioned it at my party a week ago. In fact, that was the only thing the gal bought and it was for her x-mas presents! I have used it to wrap the gifts for my daughter's teacher this morning and it worked great. Maybe you should give your hubby one refill to use and tell him to use it wisely!

Heather - I can't believe you can't get the same deal in Canada. When I get my packages from Viking, the return address is in Canada!

Michelle, you should get your husband his own mono for Christmas.

My husband won't even use the double sided tape specifically bought for wrapping presents. He just covers the package the best he can and slaps Scotch tape all over it. He'd use duck tape if he thought about it.

Just forgive him Michelle! At least he was wrapping presents. My husband generally doesn't even know what is in the packages we give to people. He has me give him a run down before we deliver them!!

Hey, guess what? My husband and I were high school sweethearts too! We celebrate our 23rd anniversary in April. I'm just about to get him trained well too!

Sharon, usually that is the case with us also....I tell him what the gifts are as we are delivering them. He helped out this year though by wrapping so I was very surprised. Now my gifts usually come in a blue Walmart sack with the receipt still stapled on with a date of December 24th on the tag. This year it's cold hard cash, he already told me so I'm good to go with that!! Guess what I'll be spending my money on?

Mono? Scotch Tape? Duct Tape? You guys are lucky! My husband thinks it's cute to wrap his presents in aluminum foil, then seal all the edges with silver electrical tape... that way you can't figure out how to get into the gift. Sure, it's creative, and it IS kinda funny to watch people's faces when they try to open it, but geesh... just once I'd like to get a present wrapped in some of that nice, expensive wrapping paper we bought from the kid's fund raiser!

At least his intentions were good, but I know what you mean about them being a precious commodity. I'm down to my last two refills, after going through about 4-5 to do my holiday cards.

By the way, are you talking about the Tombow brand mono adhesive? If so, I found a website that has them as at a great price and the more you order the better. If you have other friends who use it, maybe you can all pool together to buy in bulk and enjoy the discount. And if you spend $100, shipipng is free. Sounds like a lot when it comes to refills, but I know I go through them pretty quick and it's always good to have a few extra.

Here's the site:

http://www.penwa.com/tombow/62201.htm

If the Tombow brand isn't what you're talking about, then ignore previous paragraph.

Mine too! I'm happy to get him to wrap anything - they always look very 'creative'

My DH used the glue gun!!! Glad I didn't have any mono around. BUT he did use my white 1/4" grosgrain ribbon!!!!! I wondered why all I could find was a little 5" piece in the trash. Then I had an inkling and sure enough two of my packages were wrapped with it. I substituted one of them with the regular white curly ribbon while he was out of the house because I needed my white. Bless his little heart. He tried. :>)

Men who giftwrap? Luckily, my DH does wrap my presents, but my dad is another story. His response would probably be-"Isn't that what the ladies at the booth in the mall are for?" If he did have to wrap a gift, I'm quite certain the packaging would involve duct tape and packing paper.

I just told my 12 year old DD. It isn't the wrapping it is the gift inside. She wanted me to wrap her friends' presents and I am tired.

Just remember, ladies, you are getting presents.

Oh my dear Canadian friends! I wish we could help. Maybe we could trade flu vaccines for mono refills!
