Soap, water, and an old toothbrush are my best advice. I recently bought a set that was really yucky too. I went so far to unmount them and sand the wood block. I scrubbed the rubber with soap and water then with yellow reinker (helps take the black off). After all that I tested them on my yucky yellow pad and they seemed fine.

Thanks for the tips ladies ~ keep em coming. 1 is a background stamp and it is really yucky! I think it's going to really need alot of TLC! Now if only I could leave work early and go try these ideas. LOL

I have "Staz-on Cleaner" and that works wonders on old dirty stamps.

I spray my stamps with the Stampin' Mist and leave them rubber side up for at least 10 minutes, then I scrub them.

Hi, just try not to use anything with an alcohol base. It will dry out your stamps. I bought Dreams and Dragons used awhile back and I swear the person used pancake syrup instead of ink. The stamps were sticky and DISGUSTING. I usedMr. Clean, a toothbrush and a ton of elbow grease. What ever was on those stamps came off as a sticky white film. Yeech.

Good luck-

I bet it was versamark. I forgot (GASP) to clean one of mine and it was like that.

I also have some sets that are solid black that I was traded for. I really wanted the set and was a bit mad when they showed up totally black. I have not used them and they are a solid stamp (counting sheep) I want to use them in my sons's room but I am afraid it will mess up the paint.

I have thought of remounting them after using the sanding blocks.

I use stazon cleaner, it works superfast, but be sure to condition it with stampin mist afterward to condition it.

Thanks for all the tips here. My wheels have been really stained with a dark blue ink that I just couldn't scrub out. Luckily the ink doesn't bleed on to anything. I have the stazon cleaner, I think I'll give it a try today....I'll let you know if it works.

Also, I just have to share. I am signing up to be a demo this week! I am soooo excited. My deciding factor was there were 10 women at work that want to start a 10 for 10 club! I cannot wait to get my kit and have my first party! This site was one of the reasons I considered doing this. All of you are awesome and I have gotten so much inspiration and tips that I finally made the leap!

Well, don't forget Kymbers_Stampin's hot tip from last year........YoYo Yellow ink to get that black off!! It works!!!! Amazing, and I can't thank her enough for that tip!!!

What I use also is an organic cleaning products called Orange TKO. It's made from orange oil and works like you would NOT believe!!!! It got gear grease (for heavy equipment) out of a YoYo Yellow jacket and didn't leave any staining at all!!! www.tkoorange.com (not sure if they ship to the US or not)

This stuff is a miracle......it got 8 year old stains out of a carpet (with some serious elbow grease!).

There's this stuff you can buy at Michael's called Kiss Off. It looks like a large glue stick...it's actually a "laundry stain" remover, but it works really great on gunky stamps. You swipe some of it onto the stamp & then scrub with water & a toothbrush...works really well.

Has anyone tried using the bleach stampin' technique? It just might work. I have been doing a lot of bleach stampin' and am amazed at how clean my stamps were after using Clorox Advantage bleach. It is thick like a gel and doesn't splash that easily! I wulod probably do the bleach technique after I cleaned them. Good Luck and lets us know waht you did and how it worked out!!

I have used the "Kiss Off" stick on mine also. It does work really well.

Somewhere I read about something you can spray on them to condition them? Also there is some kind of spray you can spray on your ink pads to condition them and sort of revitalize the material. Does anyone know what that was??

Sianne, You are probably talking about Ranger's Ink Refresher. This works to rewet your ink pads, but you still need a reinkers to keep the deep rich colors!
I love it for rainbow pads when I don't have the necessary reinkers for those.

I know someone said don't use alcohol based, but I keep a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol and an old toothbrush on my desk and I use it to clean off Brilliance. I always use Stampin mist after I do the alcohol and my stamps are just fine. I have been doing a lot of trading, and I clean the crap out of my stuff before I send it to someone else. I am so bad about not cleaning my stamps right away and I would be mass embarrassed to send off a dirty yucky stamp!
