So the backorder status has caused a lot of hype about the aquapainters. I've never used one - are they really great? And do I need aquapainters if I've got blender pens?
I guess I've considered the aqua pens to be more like using a regular paintbrush and water. I don't get that same "washed" look with blender pens. I really don't even use my blenders that much; I prefer the look of regular watercoloring.
So, the aquapen IS much more convenient, since you won't be knocking over a container of water they way I normally do!!
YES you do need them! I am not much for coloring, but the aquapainter is wonderful. I love the look, and as Betsy said, no spilling. (I am the original klutz)
I'm singing the blues...I ordered my aqua brushes on August 4 and I'm still waiting on them. They haven't even made it to picking yet. I will truly be doing the happy dance when they finally get in my hands!
Waaahhh! I want my aquapainters! I ordered them on 7/29 and they still have not shipped. I got to use them at convention and loved them. They gotta ship soon!

Oh Kathleen! That is so disappointing to me that you ordered yours a week before I did and YOU still don't have them. That means my aquapainters are even further behind. I'm not going to cancel my order, but my, the waiting is soooooooo hard.
I'm beginning to think they forgot about all of us who placed orders in July (mine was 7/24) I'm seeing post where people who ordered them in August are receiving them already.... this is worse then the catalog wait.
Since the stampinup aquapainters are on backorder, I decided to use my Michael's coupon to buy the Zig H20 pen and try out watercolor painting. I'm really enjoying the results I get with this pen. Everyone who has used the Stampinup brand says they are so much better. Can anyone explain how they are better? Thank you!
Ok, perhaps a dumb question, but do you use them the same way you use blender pens? My favorite way to use blender pens is by picking up the ink from the lid of the ink pad. Is this how you would use the aqua painter?
Yes you need an aquapainter and you need it NOW. So instead of ordering it with SU! just go to your local scrapbook/rubber stamping store and buy one. I got one for only $7.00 (can't remember the brand) and I LOVE IT!
I'm a sucker for instant gratification that's why I bought mine at the local store. However, I'll be ordering the SU! aquapainters to use in my workshops.

Girls, be patient....the aquapainter is well worth the wait! I do a lot of watercoloring, so I was happy to try the painter out at convention...Well I just couldn't stop using it to the point that my card was oversaturated and looked like a 2 year old did it! I was having too much fun, and my upline had a great time making fun of me, as my work is usually pretty decent. :oops:
We laughed at that poor card everytime we saw it! Now I pace myself and don't slather 10 layers of water on one card!
To answer heidiho, YES, pick color up from the lid of stamp pads...I have found this creates such a soft, delicate look. For a more intense layer of color, I do it like they showed us at convention...drop reinkers onto a plastic lid (like those from a Pringle's can) to create a pallet. Then dip the pen into this. Have fun!!
