After looking at momis mama's gorgeous valentine's cards with her embossed and stamped envelopes, I wondered how many of you decorate yours, either by stamping, embossing or with embellishments?
As a rule I generally don't, but I think I will start doing so now I've seen how pretty they look when they match the card.
If you have any photos of your matching envies, I'd love to see them.
I too stamp my envelopes, unless I am in a huge hurry. I sent out my Christmas cards "just barely in time" because I had to finish stamping the envelopes.
I don't have pictures but that gave me something to consider adding to my gallery.
I have never made a card that I didn't stamp something on the envelope. I try to match the best I can with the card. I couldn't send or sell a card without the envelope matching.

I usually use the clear envelopes. I am currently participating in a decorated envelope swap and found I like decorated my envelopes too. Therefore, I will use regular envelopes from now on so I can decorate them to match my cards.
This is one of my stamping resolutions. I usually don't stamp the envelope, especially when I dig a card out of my stash to send. Sometimes if I sit down with the intent of making a card for a specific person for a specific event I will stamp the envie.

I usually stamp on the envelope, but if there's a possibility that the card will be mailed, I typically stamp a small image in only one of the lower corners.
If the card is to be handed to the recipient, I usually stamp along one side, in all four corners or make a border along the sides.
I usually try to decorate my envelopes! Someitmes I have a bit of time coming up with ideas to decorate. I usually send out 25 envelopes a month so that can be time comsuming. However when I have the time it can be alot of fun. Check out my gallery I have posted my fancied up envelopes.
I am also hosting a decorated envelope swap Due feb 10, 2008. Maybe you would like to join and see what other ideas for envies are out there.
My swap is at a slow start right now. I guess not too many people stamp out there envelopes. Check it out!

have fun!
That is a really neat idea for the envelopes you should check out my swap and join us.
I also make my envies match my cards. Sometimes it's just a simple corner stamp or if I use dp on the card I will line the envie. Take a look in my gallery if you want to see. I take a lot of my cards with their matching envelopes.
I too like to decorate my envelopes even if it's just in the lower left corner. I coordinate that little piece of decoration with my card. It's like a sneak preview of what's inside the envelope.
I too like to match my cards with the envelope so that people get that sneak peak of the card.
But I also like to leave a decorated envelope for the newspaper boy with his check for the month, or I will use a deco envies for a donation to the church for auctions or etc, or just to mail a bill to the utility company who don't keep my cards. But for the moment they get to share my envelope, this way they get to see my artistic juices but yet not cost me a fortune in 3 layers of card stock and 2 embelishments.
I work in a dental office where some people send cards with their payments and some just decorate the envelope, which can be a real treat, depending on what type of day we are having! There is no limit to fun envelopes.
I think it's so cool for the envelope to coordinate!! Couldn't imagine NOT doing it, although there have been times that I've been in a rush, but it still crosses my mind. lol

I Store More Stamps - do you?
When I do my card orders I don't stamp the envelope...not sure whether customers would like it. When I send my own cards I try to stamp on the envelope...depends on how "out of time" I am on the sending. ;)

I usually do, but in a limited way. I usually stamp a small coordinating image in one colour in the lower left corner of the envie. Once in a while, for something really special, I might stap the flap on the back. Also, I print my own return address labels & they are usually stamped also.

Thanks for all your replies and links to your blogs and galleries. I've looked at all of them and you all sure do have some gorgeous envies with your cards.
I'm in the UK and I'm presuming it's because of that that we don't decorate our envies. In all the classes that I've been to, no-one has ever mentioned it and definately have never done it. Next time I go to a card class I'm going to mention this idea and see how it goes down.
From now on I will definately decorate them, even if it's just a little stamp in the corner or a strip of paper down one side. They look so much nicer when they match the cards. I have some really cute swirly scroll type corner stamps that would be perfect for this - now where to find them....?
Thank you all again for inspiring me to do something better with my cards.
Hi Vannessa, I'm in the UK as well - and I ALWAYS decorate my envelopes. I did it as soon as I started making cards 'cos I wanted to stamp on just about everything LOL! I agree I've never seen it done or heard it recommended on any classes I've attended. You don't see it very often with cards featured in craft magazines either, I think I may have seen it once or twice only.
I run a monthly card group and told my ladies to decorate their envies right from the start as it adds so much I think. They are all enthusiastic envy decorators now I'm pleased to say!
It can take time but it's surprising how a quick stamp or just a strip of the same patterned paper you've used on the card can tie everything in nicely - and what a great way to show the recipient you've put a lot of thought into their card!
I just bought some monogram sets from Papertrey Ink so I added monograms to some of the flaps of my Christmas cards - that was easy and fun!
Usually I don't stamp on the envelopes, but if it is going in the mail, I always stamp this snail with a postal bag on the shell - no matter what the card is (in other words - no co-ordinating!).
Most of the time even when I am hand-delivering the envelope, it still doesn't occur to me to co-ordinate the images on the envelope to the card - I just make it a "pretend postal letter" - stamping images of postage stamps, postmarks, etc. on the envelope.
I just mailed a card yesterday and the poor envelope was naked indeed! :(
I am a bit haphazard about decorating my envelopes - normally 'cause I leave everything to the last nano second but I do like to decorate my envelopes if I can - even if its just to put co-ordinating paper on the inside of the V of the envelope....it reminds me of my letters from my Granny when I was a child and how 'special' it made me feel to have a fancy envelope with my card!
Just a thought if it hasnt been said it might brighten up the postal works day to have something pretty to deliver!:-D

LOL are we the same person? Guess not, since I live in Springboro, but I also resolve to stamp envies in the new year!
I usually decorate my envelopes with images that coordinate with those used on the card or sometimes I dry emboss a design on the flap. I think embossing gives such an elegant look. Just recently the recipient of one of my handmade cards said she could see my decorated envelope among all the other pieces of mail in her dh's hands and she called out to him to hand her that pretty one because she knew it would be from me.
It is also fun to use stamps to create a matching lining for the envelope.
I agree that the postal workers may enjoy seeing decorated envelopes once in a while .... and I try to be careful not to let my stamped images interfere with the address portions of the envelope.
