Do you delete images from your gallery?
I was just wondering if anyone goes through their gallery and deletes cards/projects that they made that they may not particularly like anymore that they uploaded previously.
I was browing my gallery and looking at some of the very first cards I uploaded that I now cannot believe I let anyone see, lol, and was going to delete them and I was wondering if anyone else did this and I wanted to make it a poll because I think polls are so fun!
I went back and took out some that were horrible pictures. They were from when I first started and so they weren't all that great, but mainly I deleted them b/c the pic quality was bad.
I personally get a lot of encouragement from seeing the development over time in other stampers, especially those with the kazillion hits/favoriteds. If eveyone deletes their older, less-polished works, then I think we'd miss out on the real deal, complete package with every stamper--they start and are not so good, they keep at it and get way better :-). I like seeing that in the galleries--keep those early uploads in!

This is funny, I was pondering the very same thing the other day. My gallery is small so I leave them in but if I had so many cards like some members here do I think I might tend to "weed them out". I do agree though, it's nice to see the progression. My first page is really awful!

Thanks!
I have in the past, but, haven't recently, hmmmmm. Mebbe it's time for some hrr housekeeping! ;) LOL!

I weeded some out the other day. But I'm selective - if they have no comments and no-one has favourited them (and it's obvious why), they go. And I had a couple of duplicates which I deleted, too.
There were one or two which had been favourited by one person, so I apologise to that person, whoever she may be. But really, if you're going to CASE something - at least pick something good!
I understand why people do it, but I love going back through the galleries of stampers I really admire to see what their earlier work looks like. I'm always a little pleased and relieved to find that some of the people I consider stamping goddesses have pretty ordinary looking stuff in the beginning of their galleries. It gives me hope, that if I keep it up, my own stuff will get better too, you know? ;)

I agree with Natalie. I think it gives encouragement to beginners plus reminds you that when you make a card that you don't like- it could be worse! - I wouldn't delete them!! Keep them!! :-D
I don't delete them because they are bad, but sometimes I make very similiar variations- and I delete the variation as time goes by. Or delete really bad pictures.
I would only delete a picture to replace it with a better picture. All my pics turn out blurry so if I ever got better I would try it again. I like to look at older stuff in people's galleries. There's new people joining all the time and you can always get older stamp sets at garage sales, flea markets, Ebay, etc so I think it's nice to keep older stuff up.
I have deleted some old ones that really bugged me. I don't so much anymore though. The lack of comments used to bug me, but now I proudly display my comment-challenged cards! Is it MY fault people are blind? ;) Course, there are a couple of "what was I thinking?!" cards in there, but I just think it makes my work now look even better! (kind of like the 'before' picture).

I like to leave my cards on there, but I've only been uploading since late December. I like to load them up to the gallery because I give so many away and sell them that I like to go back and see what I've done. I must admit that I did remove one, because I was in an experimental state of mind and frankly it was just ugly...

Yes I must admit that I have gotten rid of some earlier work mostly because it was just down right embarrassing. It's a good thing you get better at things as ya go and I'm still going........
No one has mentioned this, so I wonder if I am ok doing this...
I have put some of my older (should I say, less inspired?) cards in albums. That way they are still there, but probably not viewed as much.

I wish you had the option of selecting "Not yet, but I'm going to!" in your poll. (LOL) I definitely want to delete some of my cards from my gallery but I'm not sure if when I do so it will delete the picture/scan from my gallery, any associated comments, AND remove it from the Stamp Category as well.

If you delete it from you gallery it will be gone from SCS totally.
If I think it is bad and no one has put it in their favorites....then I delete it. If someone has put it in their favorites and I delete it, then it removes it from their favorites gallery and you would hate to leave them hanging thinking....where did that go? Sometimes even what we think is bad appeals to someone! KWIM?
I don't delete mine as I like to see how my work has evolved over time... Sometimes I look back and ask why did I did that and what was I thinking but it is all a learning process.

You can delete only the image itself, and leave all other data, including comments intact.
However, this would be annoying to gallery viewers, because then all the data is then out of context without an image to relate it to, UKWIM?

Yes I did because at the time I was scanning them in and now I have a camera to take pics and upload but I haven't since the 1st ones. I don't want people to judge my cards by my 1st ones since the newer ones are not in there, therefore thining I may notbe good enough to swap with or something.

I try to understand that when folks share their work here in the galleries, and, I have favorited one of their pieces, it's possible it may eventually be deleted, at the image owner's discretion, for any number of reasons.
After all, it is their gallery, and their image, so they are at liberty to do with it as they will. ;)
If so, then I just appreciate the time I did get to view and learn from it, while it was here.
With over 400,000 images here in the galleries, I'm always finding new favorites!

Actually, just want to clarify:
when you delete something from your personal gallery, it disappears *everywhere*. . . as do the associated comments that anyone's posted.
So, if Julie has a card in x gallery, and it has 85 comments on it and 105 people have it in their favorites. . . and then she deletes it,
- her personal number of gallery uploads is decreased by one.
- x gallery's total number of items is decreased by one.
- the 85 comments disappear.
- the 105 people who favorited it? it's no longer in their favorites.
- anyone who's linked to that card anywhere will have a broken link.
I don't delete, but then again I don't have too many cards in my gallery
I like to see the growth that I've made over the time I've been posting.
