Does anyone out there know how to renew the rubber on stamps once they have gotten hard? I have a wheel that has gotten very hard and does not stamp well that way. I thought I read somewhere sometime how to do this but I can't remember what it said. Can any one HELP????!!!!!Thanks

You might try rolling it in your versamark pad and setting it sit like that overnight. then clean it well and make sure to condition it with the SU stampin' mist. It's worth a try.....

Versamark can destroy the rubber especially if it is already dry. I had one that was dry once and I rubbed it with some facial moisturizer (a thick coat) and let it sit for a few hours, washed it off with facial cleanser and then conditioned it with rubber stamp conditioner. I know it sounds weird, but I figured that a petroleum based product wouldn't be good (like baby oil) but that something that had animal oils such as lanolin (from sheep's wool) would. I almost considered for a while putting Lansinoh (for breastfeeding mothers) but remembered that it is a PITA to wash off. And I used the facial cleanser because I figured it wouldn't be drying like soap. Then the stamp conditioner to keep it supple. It worked so I'd use it again. I have a few stamps that I don't use often and I have applied a little facial moisturizer to them before putting them away, but find that they do get "gunky" aftera while and have to be washed, but it does keep the rubber supple.

Good luck!

There is a stamp conditioner that you can buy that would probably help. I bought it at a local stamp store and it was pink.

I thought I remember reading that letting it soak in liquid glyercin was supposed to help. (After all, it's in the stampin' mist)

Yep, glycerin (sp?) works. I bought some old stamps off ebay. Place the glycerin (found at your local drug store) on a paper towel with stamps rubber side down into an airtight container. Leave overnight or a bit longer. You should see a marked difference in the rubber. Clean as usual.

Just a note--if you can't find liquid glyercin at the drug store, ask the pharmacy. Some stores have it behind the counter.
