Question Does any stamp while traveling?

I am leaving at the end of this week to visit my family and would like to bring something to do while waiting at airports or even on the plane and even while I am at my destination. Does anyone else ever travel and bring projects along? Please share your ideas with me so I can get my things ready to go!

Thanks, Linda

I've taken stamped images to color--usually with watercolor pencils and an aquabrush, but that would be hard to do at an airport--I need a table to work on. Last year I also took the stamped images for my Christmas cards that needed to be cut out. You couldn't take scissors on a plane, though--and you'd have to put the aquabrush in your quart-size ziplock bag to go through security.
You could take anything like that, though, and work on it at your destination.

I guess I can save the cutting for when I get to my destination but I will definitely get some images stamped to color while I am actually traveling.
Thanks so much for your ideas Karen, Linda

Anyone else got an idea?

The only think I could think of would be the assembly process. You know, attaching the cardstock and ribbon and anything else. This would require that everything be stamped, cut, etc., and put into ziploc bags. Then all you'd need would be adhesive, brads, pop-dots.

It's very simple to plan this. Stamp out a bunch of images that you are thinking of making cards with in the near future. I prefer to stamp them on smaller pieces of paper because they are easier to color on your lap than one large sheet with several images. If I am traveling by air, I don't like to have all my watercolor pencils with me to use, instead, take a piece or two of quilters template plastic (the same stuff that you stamp images on with the stamp-a-ma-jig). On this plastic scribble squares of color - I usually do like colors together to make it easier to shade. Then all you need is an aquabrush and some scrap paper to use as a base and you are already to do that tedious coloring while you are traveling.

You would be amazed at how many images you can color with just a small scribble of watercolor pencil - it will most likely last until you can "re-load" at your destination. This is really a productive thing for me to do when I travel because at the end of the trip I have lots of ready to use colored images. Hope this is helpful!

Linda,
dh and I travel but in our camper. So I take things that I can work on. While we are on the road.

This year we will be gone for 3 weeks....SO you know I am going to be taking something with me stamping related.

I do! If we camp with our trailer, I bring stuff. If I am staying in a hotel I bring stuff. If I am at someone's home and they aren't crafty I don't. But any other time I can get away with it! I would read a book, but I'd rather stamp!

I know I would. This is a great time to "challenge" yourself using select sets and colors. Precut a few ideas you may have and see what you can come up with.:p

My DH and I took a 6 week road trip across the states last summer. I took a small clear plast tub with the following supplies: stamped images cut on 2 1/2 X 2 1/2, 3 X 3 note cards and 2 3/4 X 2 3/4 background stamps. I also carried a black classic pad, the Amazing to Zany stamp set, scraps of narrow ribbon, scraps of paper (the size to stamp A to Z words on) and a hadfull of brads (and double sided tape and scissors of course). I had a great time creating note cards from California to Maine and back, and now have an abundant supply for gifts etc. On another long road trip, I put together a similar "stamp kit" for enough supplies to make Christamas gift tags. Lots of fun too!!!

Well since I use mostly unmounted stamps. I can take alot more of them with me.

I have a rolling cart that I take with me,
I usually take:
Cardstock,
Paper cutter & scissor's
boxes of embellishments
Ink spots.
Markers.
Scissor's
Glue and double stick tape.
Ribbon.
the cart holds alot of stuff and has many storage pockets.
Sometimes it rains and I need something to do. Instead of watching TV. I stamp and create my cards.

I don't normally write in a journal but I do on trips/vacations. I take stickers and stamps to use on my journal pages among the words and the post cards, tickets, business cards from restaurants, etc. It makes my journal a lot more interesting and fun to do and I don't have to save space to add things later.

i have a friend who went to hawaii before christmas and she had all the cutting and stamping done so all she had to do was assembly!

it's never too early to start on christmas cards... but you could work up a set of birthday cards or invitations for your self or as a gift set. i think you could do assembly work most anywhere.

good luck, safe travels and happy stamping!

I've packed my stamping supplies for several trips this past year, but found that I never got around to using them. I've since decided to leave my stuff at home-no sense packing something I'm not going to use!
