This topic has recently been discussed among demonstrators. My understanding is that the largest hurdle for Stampin' Up! and acrylics is quality. Stampin' Up! has very strict quality standards for their products and currently acrylic stamps are not as durable and long lasting as rubber stamps. When the quality issue is solved I would imagine Stampin' Up! will consider acrylics if the market is still demanding them. -- Just my thoughts!

I'm guessing no because they have a niche product, but you never can tell!

No, absolutely not. I don't think they will ever change over, because _I_ want them to change over. Murphy's Law applies. Of course I will be ecstatic if I am wrong.

I agree
I dont live in a huge house and I only have one 8 foot wall for my stamping table and 4 - 22 inch wide wire shelves for all my stamps and I have plenty of room for them, y'all that have problems with the space issue must have tons of stamp sets Try trading or selling some to get the new ones, that's what I do;)
Sounds so much more polished than, "I'm so far behind I can see my butt up ahead!" Which is what I invariably blurt out . . .
As for SU! and the WM/UM/Clear question . . . their latest images for Fall/Winter 2007 are obviously WM Ruby Red, so that resolves the mystery for the 1st six months of the coming catalog year, eh?! ;)

WM rebah all the way!!!! Even though I have lots of acryllic too, stampin is much more rewarding with WM, though I can't tell ya why - it's just the feelin'!! JMO

I know why! Because of the satisfying THUNK it makes when I throw one at my DH for being a jerk! ;)
I don't think they'd ever go acrylic. I wouldn't want them to go acrylic either. And in my opinion, people that are buying SU stamps right now won't stop buying them if they don't go unmounted or acrylic. We'd like to say we would but come on, it's an addiction, we just can't get enough!
I would love for them to offer unmounted though! More for my money and less space to take up!

i'm hoping they stay wood mounted - i like them much better. i've used a few acrylic, but i can't get used to them - i think i squish them to much, and the image looks distorted - maybe i just need more practice...
maybe SU could offer some acrylics - and do the best of both worlds - keep everyone happy -

I totally agree, I still buy CTMH paper, but stop buying their stamps because of the squishy images I made with them. I know, some totally love them, but I tried for a whole year and never was satisfied. I do like using acrylic blocks for EZMount Stamps, these are deeply etched red rubber on a self clinging cushion system, now this for SU, I would accept, it's the best of both worlds!
I personally really like my rubber stamps. I have a few clear sets and they are ok. I want my stamps to last a long time, not sure how the clear ones will hold up over time.
Won't be see through but would sure save some trees and some space in my craft room!
Just an FYI - SU actually grows trees specifically for this purpose. They do not go out to a random forest and chop trees for their stamps. Just thought those who are new to SU would like to know
I dont think they will ever go acrylic, but I do hope and wish they would offer then either as just the rubber so we can mount on cling foam, or even better would be if they offered them mounted on cling foam, or the traditional wood mount option.
I think SU keeps an open mind and has left the door open if the quality of acrylic stamps ever improves so that it is up to SU's standards. But even if they offer acrylics, I hope they never stop selling WM rubber stamps -- I love 'em!
I wish they would offer the red rubber on a cling mount. Won't be see through but would sure save some trees and some space in my craft room!
For space I completely agree - -would **love** if SU would offer a WM ~or~ Cling option. I would not like it SU went clear....
I just a few months ago purchased my first set of acrylic blocks and have been on a spending spree of unmounteds!!
I much prefer the red rubber images to clear ones I've tried (Fancy Pants is a great stamped image, though!)... and unmounted they take up so little room! Now I need to stop buying them, so I can save $$ for the new SU catty (giddy to see the new sets!!!)
I just mounted some SU sets last night and thought about putting them on EZ mount, but did not. It seemed 'wrong' somehow LOL
So for SU I will probably keep them WM until they offer a cling option.

I don't think they will go acrylic but will stay with the rubber. At some point they might find a way to offer an unmounted option. Give them time. They still have great images and although I buy mostly acrylic now I am still fond of SU and buy if I see something I like!
*GASP* Oh please Joan, say it isn't so. Rubber...on the way out...???
(Children run over to Mom who has just passed out on the floor..."Mommy???")
The thought of ruby red being a thing of the past is indeed alarming.
I love all stamps. UMs have accomodated storage needs for some stampers, and clear stamps have accomodated the growing numbers of newbie stampers who can "try stamping on" at a lower cost, but, if ruby red and the WM should disappear altogether, I think it would be a *huge* loss for the art form overall.

I love all stamps too. I agree. The loss of any high quality stamping medium would be sad.

As for clear stamps vs rubber....
SOMEONE has to hold the line for quality. Right now clear polymer doesn't quite match up to the quality of rubber and we don't know its longevity. So, I would hope that SU! sticks to their guns on rubber!
That being said, I would like the unmounted option too!
Do you think SU will into clear stamps at some point?
I am just thinking about the popularity of the Autumn Leaves and ones like that...I am wondering if so many were retired and more accesories brought out that they are thinking of putting out some clear type of stamps...
