Don't let your six year old son use your crafter's tool kit on the good table even if he promises to keep the pad under the punch. That is unless you were hoping for that distressed furniture look.
Don't leave your giant, brand new, beautiful self-healing cutting mat in the HOT HOT HOT car, then bring it in all warped and allow it to cool that way. It will NOT flatten out without more excessive heat, lol.
Don't try to use your heat gun as a hair dryer in the event of an emergency.
Always test magnetic letter stamps before committing them to your cardstock--you may get some bizarre, demonic-looking words, lol.

Oh.
My.
God.
!!!!!
I haven't laughed this hard in oh so long! Thanks so very much! As for me, well, let's just say I've heard it's good to remember to throw away those baby wipes you were using as a stamp pad so when you grab the closest thing to wipe off all the chocolate from your dear baby girl's face before she wipes it all over your new blouse.......sigh, just remember drop a dollar in the therapy jar so you don't feel quite so guilty when you take all those pictures!

don't leave black ink pad open on your desk as you are finishing your cards. I made a stack of holiday cards, was really tired and managed to drag or drop 4 cards on the black pad as I was putting them away.
At least yours looked like a bruise! Mine was red and people kept asking me if I knew that I was bleeding!!!!!

This is too funny! I am glad I am not the only one who does these things. I'll have to second (or third) the comments about being careful when removing the ink cartridge - my real red ended up in my water glass. (And this was during a demo!)
don't keep your stampin mist spray next to your glitz spray (identical bottles, glitz pray is like pearl ex in spray form). i spayed the glitz in my scrubber and it took awhile before i figured out why my stamps where stamping irridecent. then i had to try to clean out the glitz from my ink pads....now i store them separate and i have big reg Xs on top of my glitz (so i can try to remember not to use it for cleaning).
Lol. I did the same thing with my friends hairspray/pearl ex. Thought she was going to kill me.
Ummm...don't buy things just cuz your other stampin buddies have them. Lord knows I have so many things in my craft room that I have never touched, but bought cuz the "cool kids" had it!:p
SO TRUE!!!

Burnt fingers? Got the heat gun too close while embossing?
Photographic supply places sell bamboo tongs (not because of heat, but to pick up the photo by its edge out of the chemical bath). Here is just one website (try Froogle to compare prices). http://www.freestylephoto.biz/sc_search.php

ROFLMBO!! These are too good!!
Don't accidentally sprinkle DD glitter instead of II EP and then start swearing because it's not embossing right...
Don't push too hard when opening a stamp pad during a demo and have the top part (ya know, the INK) land flat onto the kitchen floor that the hostess was just so proud of cleaning....
I have to second the Don't spray stampin mist without checking the direction of the nozzle - and also make sure you don't spray into a fan so that it all goes onto your SIL instead of the stampin scrub.....
Here's a big DO - When you've used the stampin scrub too close to your cs, DO proceed to take out a sponge and make like it was intentional.
I also agree with not forgetting how sharp the paper snips and craft and rubber scissors are - I tend to trim more than just rubber when putting my stamps together.......

I too pushed on the top part of a stamp pad too hard and sent it flying. I was doing a demo at the time and telling them how wonderful the new stamp pads were and sent it flying across the room. Came close to hitting a customer. Pretty embarrassing.
Don't use your large (school type) paper cutter for heating shrink plastic. The lines are painted on and when heated up, the lines tend to melt and you no longer have precise lines to do your measuring with.

Don't aim a roller at a customer when you are trying to take out the inked cartridge....especially if she's wearing a white t-shirt and your ink is green galore........

When omitting a part of a stamp using scotch tape, don't forget to remove the tape before you stamp the image. I can't tell you how many times I have done this. You would think I would learn!!!

Doh! I have to say I have done this too....and it was on the cutest card. Can we say "ruined!!"
If you become a demo - make sure that you have a good supply of coffee or a starbucks nearby. I am sooo excited and overwhelmed with it all that I cannot sleep well. I wake up at 3 a.m. thinking about color-resist and whether I should make my workshop themed (color, style, stampset?) or not. Help! Suggestions? I love it all but I'm darn tired!
I'm definitely not an expert in the area -- but I have been to a couple of my upline's workshops, and I love how she does it.
She picked two samples to make. Our last one was crayon resist and stamping on tiles. She taught us how to do each and then let us make them. We then got to sit down and go through samples --from swaps--, inspiration sheets, catalogs, mini catalogs, etc.
Don't stress to much -- it's supposed to be fun!
Good Luck!!

ROTFL - I did the exact same thing! I was sooooo ticked off! Of course, the cats were covered in glitter!
Oh, and my 2 cents? Don't leave ribbon out overnight if you have cats around. I woke up wrapped in Red Ribbon and I was so confused!
LOL sounds like my house. My Dudley (the white cat in my avatar) likes to eat ribbon. His absolute favorite is Tulle, I have my destroyed wedding veil to prove it. And he likes Barbies clothes. Especially Barbies wedding dress, because of course it had some tulle on it. I have to be so careful what I leave out. But at least he's not as bad as Gabby, the tabby cat in my avatar, Gabby likes to chew on electrical cords. We slather all our cords down with bitter apple regularly.
So my tip is, don't leave out your heat tool anywhere that your suicidal, electrical cord chomping cat can get to it.
Don't leave your embossing heat tool plugged in when you are not using it. I heard one story of a demonstrator whose house burned down when her cat must have turned her embossing gun on by accident. I've seen mine roll off the desk and turn itself on, so it isn't as far fetched as you might think. Unplug the thing!

That is way scary! After all the funny things that have happened to people... this one I will remember. I fact, I am going to go look right now to see where my heat gun is and whether or not it is plugged in.
If you're feeling too lazy to get out the heat gun and decide your hair straightener will do the trick - It WONT!
You can't regulate the heat and it will either warp and burn the paper or it won't emboss.

This one is just too funny....and then there would be the flip side to this....don't buy things just to make your stampin' buds jealous either. Might be a very good reason why they don't own it yet.

I learned to just take a normal wooden pencil and hold the item down that you are embossing with the eraser end. Saves your fingers and the eraser keeps the paper from moving around. Real cheap tool too!
Also, never leave a laptop or other computer on a self-healing mat for long periods of time, it will get warped from the heat. I was doubling up my desk and found this out (the mat was as big as the desk so I just left it there)! Oops. Oh and don't use the heat tool over one of these mats either!
If you have the fiskars grey trimmer (12"), while cutting put as much pressure as you need to on the clear slider so that it will not flex as much and cause a crooked cut.

If your liquid glue bottle is plugged, DON'T squeeze hard while looking at it! My excuse is it was 3:00am. My friend and I still laugh about that one. Glue was in my hair, on my face, on the fridge, floor, table ect.
