My cubemate here at work brought me a DVD type plastic case from an AOL mailing. She was sure that I or one of you fine people would come up with ideas. Is a smidge short for a small legal pad - 7 1/2" X 5 1/4" X 3/4". Cannot emboss as it will shrivel, but any suggestions would be welcome.
Has anyone tried making these calendars? I have a catalog for Bags Unlimited that sells "CD Calendar cases" for $76 for 100. I really don't want to invest in 100 of these to see if they work. You can't really see much from the picture. Any thoughts?
It is that sort of opaque softer plastic - not the acrylic kind. Snaps together and has a self hinge. The small legal pads fit expect they are an inch or so too long - I could just hack one off, but not sure I would do it straight. That would work for something inside, but looking for the outside. Maybe I will try a picture later.

For the outside, stamp a line art image with stazon and color with sharpies. For the legal pads, take them to a small copy place (Kinkos, Kwik Kopy, etc) and have them cut it off.

Could you put a pad of the longer type Post-it Note pad in it? You could then make a RVSP pen and cover the outside with a cardstock stamped image? Could be cute.
Good Luck!

Could you use the DVD case as a stationary holder? Cut copy paper to fit and stamp a border on it with coordinating envelopes and pen. Just a thought. Could be a cute teacher's gift for Christmas.
Use it as a small scrapbook album! I just made one of these as a birthday gift for a friend. I got some old pictures of him from his childhood (it was his 60th birthday). His wife snuck them out of the house.
For the cover, I used a scanned image of his face when he was a small child, and I stamped his name next to that. Then I used a bigger shot of his high school graduation picture. I slipped the cover into the clear plastic sleeve (it covered the entire front and back). To get the proper dimensions for the cover, I first removed the paper cover that was already in there (it was an AOL CD case) and used that as a template.
For the inside, I used my hands to snap off the little black clips on the covers. Then I used Pop Dots (Stampin' Dimensionals) as adhesive to "build up" the space around the place where the CD goes in, and I covered it all (both in the front and back) with a piece of cardstock.
For the pages, I made an accordian album type thing. Then I just scrapped the accordian pages like you would a regular scrapbook. I used a kind of boyish, "aged," torn paper kind of look for the entire thing. I attached the accordian book to the piece of cardstock that covered the inside back cover.
So the result is that when you open the DVD case, you see a scrapbook. You can unfold the pages. When you're done looking at them, you refold the pages and snap the case shut.
