Check out this eBay listing! Some people just shouldn't be demonstrators. What an attitude this one has!!! I'm not even a demo and this person's Description has my blood boiling!
I think it's really sad that someone is going to ruin the chance of us getting a gift like this again! I really look forward to these surprises from SU! and everytime something like this happens I can't help but think that they're going to stop doing it for us! I sent an email, too....
Has anyone done a search from SU! site to see demos that live in Meridian, ID? Would think those demos would be the most upset by their neighbors behavior. Course it may not be a demo but a friend of a demo etc.
What a shame but look on the positive site least when it is available in March this person has already drummed up interest Stacey
I might be crucified for saying this and I dont mean to start conflict, but why are you wasting your time and emotion on this? Our responsibility is to be responsible for ourselves and not sit and fume about what other people are doing.
What if this person is in desperate need of money? It might have been a gift to her, but maybe she is in need.
I have heard the arguments about ebay and such, but the time spent on policing ebay seems to be more for the sake of finding something wrong out there to talk about, rather than just doing your own thing.
Just my thoughts.

Ariana, It bothers me because I have an emotional connection with Stampin Up! as a company. So it hurts me to see someone abuse them in this way. Kind of like if someone was cruel to a friend. Those are just my gut feelings.
But you are right, I am just responsible for my own actions.
I do hope if she is in real need she can find an honest solution.

I think what we (demos) are upset about is that this person is blatently breaking SU policies that state that demos cannot sell current merchandise (except through catalog orders ofcourse). What happens is that deoms who "cheat" the system end up getting all sorts of incentive and rewards for supposedly working hard to make sales when in fact all they are doing is cheating the company they work for... kind of like biting the hand that feeds you... For those of us who work hard for our customer base, this leaves a very bitter aftertaste... make sense?
I won't crucify you because of your opinion, but I would like to offer a twist on the money thing...I am in need of money, as I am sure many other demos are - my husband just returned from a 22 month deployment and we have a 7 year old and a 6 month old to buy christmas for. I would love to be able to sell sets on ebay and make a larger profit, but it is not what I agreed to do when I signed up to be a demo. I agreed that I would have workshops and catalog parties and such to make my business successful..is it right for me, with internet access, to sell my stamps on ebay while another demo that may not have that ability tries to build a business through the approved ways? I don't think so, and that is why I don't do it. There are other ways to make money than to do something that clearly violates the rules. And if you look at her other auctions she has 3 of the ageless adornment sets that she has sold - so she's either hostessed three pretty successful workshops OR bought/sold a lot of stamps another way....Just another way to look at it, and I don't mean to offend anyone either...
I went to the site and found it interesting that she stated she did not want any harassing messages from SU demonstrators. She went on to say that she would forward to ebay any such comments. It is obvious that she is very aware of the policy and that she is breaking the rules. I hope she is willing to face the consequences too.
Curious to know how you know it's her...On that link she doesn't mention anything about stamping that I saw.
Also, what IF a friend did give it to her? Anyone that's NOT a demo has full rights to sell it, right? Maybe it's all legit, but if not, it will catch up to her, I'm sure!!
I am not a demo YET, but I will be in 17 days when my paperwork goes in. I feel that this company is great and has offered this set to ALL the demos and us that are signing up and being very generous, and then along comes people like this who could spoil SU ever giving us another free gift!! Just my opinion!!

I understand you especially about being responsible for our actions...but I feel that taking just a few moments to email SU! about a violation is not a waste of time. I am not sure if they have a person exclusively checking out for this stuff, so I'm sure it's helpful that we forward the info onto them.
OK here is another thought .... WHO is going to give her this FREE set as a gift anyway ... I would NOT give it to anyone.. I want it, I want it all!!! :-) I think to assume she got it as a gift is a little far fetched ... We all know how she got it ....just my 2 cent worth
rubber hugs
Dawn
There was a note on the SU site that said to give them until Jan 4th. I'm sure the holidays slowed everything down big time. My set came via 1st Class mail, not UPS.
I agree with the "scared to be crucified" comment....
First...this is definitely NOT our problem to be "policing" auctions for "current" SU items, but the "sole" responsibility of SU or eBay.
Next, If you only knew that for all of your efforts in reporting this kind of activity....probably 99% of them NEVER actually end in a cancelling of an auction!
Most importantly...the rules governed by SU themselves state that once their product becomes the property of a customer...THAT CUSTOMER has the right to dispose of THAT PROPERTY as they choose.
The ONLY area of possible violation for a "non-demo" in this auction is the "copyright" issues of the actual depiction in her auction photo.
Other than that...there is really nothing that SU or eBay will have a reason to act upon.
I've heard all of the controversy regarding why these products should not be sold on any auction sites, BUT my personal view on this matter is that if you are dedicated in selling your business and do it well...a few bad apples are definitely NOT going to spoil it for any of us!
My real wish is that those who spend this much effort on this kind of hunting down of the questionably illegal auctions would spend this much time and effort on something with a more positive outcome...like volunteering for charitible work where their efforts would really make a difference in someones life who needs our help!
Well, that's my two cents on the matter and hope I haven't offended anyone who feels different about this. My sales for last quarter were $5000 dollars +, so these auctions are DEFINITELY not getting in my way and they won't for you either IF you work hard at your sales!
hmmmmm maybe she is MR BROWN'S WIFE ha have you ever thought of that??? those of you that live in Idaho, MR BRown's wife may have smuggled YOUR SU box & is now selling your stamps

I disagree with a couple of comments in your statements -
First it is our responsibility to "police" ebay. As any successful business does, you look to see what your competition is doing and ebay is a big competitor when people don't play by the rules. You can't tell me that Wal-mart and Target don't look at what the others sell the same product for to base their sales and promotions on...
Second, the chances of this being a non-demo are pretty slim. I don't know of many demos that would give this set away so quickly. Most of us haven't even received them yet and there are three on ebay....Also, this same seller has sold numerous hostess sets so it makes it look even more suspicous..
And as a matter of fact I do volunteer, I give to the food bank, I donate to children's hospitals, my husband is in the National Guard and does volunteer through them, he is also a police officer and has been part of and coordinated numerous charitable events, so my time is equally divided. So I don't think that the people policing these auctions are sitting around waiting for someone to gang up on, but they are, in their own way, being aware of what other sellers are doing to grow their businesses in a positive and fair way.
That may have sounded more harsh than I meant it, and I want you to know that I am not attacking anyone's opinion, but voicing another side to it....
Hello MODERATOR here...BEFORE this gets ugly and nit picky, I suggest that we all just take a deep breath and release, in.....ouuuuuttttt....Inhale Exhale....ahhhhhhhh
Now, Please all be aware of how difficult it is to get inflection of voice to come accross the computer screen. Words to you may be insults to others and before we all get hot and bothered lets take a moment and realize that while to some it is a waste of time to police Ebay for those who do not follow the rules, to others it is a very valuable use of their time as they feel it will help in not only reducing the business of those who do not follow the rules but will also increase the business of those who go about earning all they have by working for it.
Ok so that is a HUGE run-on sentence and my English Professor would be livid with me over it!!
But really, lest we all hurt unintentionaly, please be careful of what you write and reread it BEFORE you post it. Keeping in mind how it may come accross to others....
Thank you

hehee.. is that your mom? werent you homeschooled? does she still visit this site? havent seen her on since baby cole was born.....
no offense taken here and none intended either
Thanks Keri for the cool-down reminder...hehe!
You must have a great mom....I named my firstborn K-e-r-i over 28 yrs ago and she still thinks that I named her after the lotion bottle-LOL!
That's what my husband said...he kept saying, "man you guys are passionate about your stamps! I'll have to get out my riot gear pretty soon"...he likes it when I'm riled up about something other than him doing something wrong!
I can't believe a demo would let this set go. I have not received mine yet, but thoroughly enjoyed looking at the one up for auction on eBay.
I am very disappointed that a demo would choose to give this set away.
How could he/she not want to play with it!?
My grandfather, who is 92, once collected trains. He collected them from the early 1920's until 1945. His eyes mist over when he recalls his train sets; how he set them up, what they looked like.
Remember, this was before TV. Trains were quite a source of entertainment then.
He once told me a story: when my mother and uncle were very young, one year he and my grandma had no funds to buy Christmas presents with.
So he took and sold all of his beloved train sets to buy Christmas presents with.
In my heart, I hope this demo parted with this set in order to provide for her family out of desperation, not out of greed.
