The saddest issue of all in this is what it says about us as a society in general:
The almighty buck prevails; we have become so desensitized and apathetic. And, there is no standard of integrity or scruples when it comes to "business" . . .
Ditto Julie... you have such a way with words my Queen!
You know ladies, The thought just came to mind about all the warnings that we give our children about being careful who they trust on the internet. We all have no idea who frequents this site! That is scary! I just made my first trade with a fellow scs'r and it went well. Who knows who might be out there to scam us. It really frightens me to think about. It is scary that this ebayer lady or man is also on our site. Just some things to think about.
And It makes me mad - why? Because so many of my friends (both here and IRL) are hard working demos. Why are there so many unethical people out there - because there are STUPID STUPID customers who are not smart enough to figure out that they are better off buying sets from a demo and getting credit for what they purchase. Someone I know used to buy all their sets off EBAY! Now I can see utilizing it for retired sets which you really want - but seriously - any true blue SU fan would never support these people!
You may have 50 or 60 sets of stamps - but if you are buying them off ebay - you screwed yourself - because you could have had so many freebies along the way - with hostess sets and extras -
Well I sucessfull endded one of the autions. I used buy it now and got it. I'm not an SU Demo but I will give it a worthy home, and I promisenot to resell it. In Him,
Shawna
Shawna,
I'm just curious to know why were you willing to pay $35 for this stamp set when it will be for sale 50% off in March? I bet it's regular price will be no where near $35 either. It's not a large set. I just got my free one in the mail yesterday! Woohoo!!!
Oh Ang, thanks for posting that reply. The nerver.
Well, with what, over 23000 members, you'd have to expect a few bad apples. But you know what, the good ones here make up for people like that.
Someone said it, what goes around comes around and she WILL get hers.
AND JULIE........that song was so great! I loved it. needed a good laugh.
As for Miss eBayer that is watching and reading..... this is an interesting thread to watch, but YOU specifically have not acheived a thing. Our morals and beliefs are what drives us to state our opinion no YOU. So sit back, enjoy the show and snicker all you want.

what also made me think, is that here we all come to this site for inspiration and friendships with a common hobby, and someone, as i am sure there are others, come here with "other" intentions or are mean and/or rude to fellow members!!!!! That sucks!!
More ramblings, when I should be working on Christmas . . . I must be having avoidance issues . . . :?
Unless Ebay feels the pain from this, they will not do anything about it . . . Unfortunately, they will not work in partnership with SU! to curb this sort of thing, something I find a sad reflection on Ebay itself . . .
The only recourse, would be to boycott Ebay. But, with billions of buyers around the world for other products, highly unlikely they'd even feel a tweak. Again, the dollar speaks. Ebay is no exception.
They won't allow the selling of a kidney, but I'm sure that's due to federal law, not because they want to establish any sort of reputation for integrity and responsibility. To them, it's all about $$$.
And, no matter what the issue/product, how many folks would boycott Ebay in its entirety, as protest to how Ebay itself handles such issues? Very few.
Why? Because if as a buyer, you can save a buck shopping on Ebay, then that's where you'll shop. Because that's where it hits you personally. YOUR WALLET.
Some folks ask why I am so anti-ALL Ebay when the only issue that may pertain to me would be demonstrators selling against SU! policy there?
ANSWER: If I owned and ran Ebay, there's no way in h*** I'd permit such selling activity. It doesn't just reflect on the individual seller: it reflects badly on Ebay as a whole. I wouldn't want to establish that kind of reputation (Anything's OK, well, 'cept for kidneys . . . ).
Sadly, Ebay doesn't look at things that way . . . very few giants in business do . . . maybe none any more . . .

My 2 cents:
Wouldn't it be great if we all did a RAD (Radom Act of Disappointment) card and mailed them to the Ebay sellers. Nothing mean, just a "Thinking of You" kind of card, that surely couldn't be harassment.
Oh, and if the Ebay seller(s) are reading these, I really do feel very disappointed and sad for you. But I'm sure you already know how many of us feel and couldn't care less. You may have gained a few bucks and be smiling, but I truly think you lost alot more and things will even out in the end!
So, take your greedy money, I'm keeping my set and will be happliy stamping the day away with it!!! (once I mount it)
Even though this is such a hot topic it will not effect the seller of this item at all. In the end, they got their money & their laughs (at us).
It is a sad society that we live in. Talk about Christmas spirit.
I don't mean to sound like I don't care, because I do. But when everything is said & done there isn't much that we can do except let Ebay & SU! know how unhappy that we are.
I have been a demo for almost 5 years. It really irks me when I can find stuff on Ebay, bid & have it in hand BEFORE I get it in the mail from SU! (ex: new catalogs). But... that is how it happens sometimes. We can only suck it up & go on...
This seller seems like the type of person that would probably take a seat from a little old lady holding a bag on a crowded bus.
All we can do is be "better" people than this...
Just my 2 cents worth....
Jenna :(

I just had to come back to this thread - left right after I posted for a fun lunch date
But something (okay, MORE than one thing!) is really bugging me...tell me if anyone else feels a li'l "creeped out" that there is someone (maybe even one who posted to this thread!) lurking here and reading and laughing at all of our concerns. Is she in the demo only forum? On the RAK list? Maybe I've even sent her a RAK. Maybe you have. She knows who I am, addressed me by name in the email and replied to my posts on this thread, rather than my "question to seller" on the ebay posting. She knows what I look like, and that I live in Rockford, MN, and that I'm a SU! demo.
I feel creepy knowing this. Will take me awhile to shake the feeling...
I can tell myself this is just some loser who wants to "toy" with us and make me feel small and foolish for "wasting my time" but the bottom line is that...
Wouldn't it be great if we all did a RAD (Radom Act of Disappointment) card and mailed them to the Ebay sellers. Nothing mean, just a "Thinking of You" kind of card, that surely couldn't be harassment
I must be in a strange mood because after I read this all that went through my mind was "yeah, do that and she/he will probably cut the card fronts off and post them on ebay too..."
[quote="AngFab"] Why not come out of the closet and wish us all Happy Holidays!
This is a very good question. If you are so proud of yourself why not let us know who you are? You obviously don't think (or Care) that you are doing anything wrong. Defend your actions. Tell us why you do this. Is it Just for the money? Is it for the Cruise? What makes you tick? You hide behind your computer screen, why?
Another auction ended because of an "error in listing" Could it be that SU had some influence on this auction?
No. She got tired of all the hate mail from Demos. So she withdrew the listing. Apparently she had no idea the uproar listing the item would cause. She says she got the set from a Demo friend and plans on talking to her. I actually believe her.
Why do I need to remind you all that it is important that we do not name call, or speak wrongly of others? Please let's all take a few cleansing deep breaths and remember to do what we can do to end these types of auctions without damaging the wonderful reputation of SCS by getting downright nasty... I think Daven and Tracy deserve that from us...
Thank you
Because selling on eBay and other Internet auction Web sites damages the business of all demonstrators, Stampin’ Up! has a strict policy against selling current merchandise on eBay. Currently, there are auctions for Sell-A-Bration sets and the new gift set, Sincere Salutations. Stampin’ Up! will aggressively pursue investigations of these sites, and we will terminate the demonstratorships of any demonstrators found selling on eBay or enabling others to sell current merchandise on eBay.
obviously they have been getting bombarded with calls!! Yea!!!
Here is my thought that I sent to Stampin' UP on how to catch the culprits...
When SU does another promotion, they could spend a little extra money to embed a microchip in one of the blocks of wood that is sent to each demonstrator. They could record that information and when the stamp set goes on sale on Ebay, they buy it, read the chip and boom, they know who they are dealing with.
This way, anytime they send out free sets or demos can order early, we would never know if the sets had chips or not...if you sold you would be taking a HUGE risk.
I know it would be costly, but wouldn't it be worth it for them to catch the people who are doing it
I doubt they will do it but I think it would be great to catch these people
My husband said the same thing last night. He wondered if there was anyway to serial the stamps so that when this happened SU! would have an immediate tracking device....
This is criminal! :( I can't beleive this is on e-bay so quickly. I just got mine. Imagine, $46.00 for a set that will be a half price promotion in just 60 or so days.
well, if they pulled ALL of those sets off Ebay.....i wonder if the person that is selling there and being rude to Ang, will be laughing so hard now??????  sorry..i am not usually like this...must be the holiday exhaustion setting in...
hehehehe there is an auction that ended 2 hours after it started that said ended early cause item lost or broken!! Ya right!! and a couple of them ended because of error in listing but don't seem to have relisted it.. lol. Did you guys scare them??? lol

Strange. I was also thinking along those same lines with special promotions. Maybe if SU could track who they are sending out sets to with some sort of serial number on them that could trace back to the demo. But then a demo or SU would have to buy it to be able to trace back. Probaby too much time and money for SU.
I don't know. I still can't believe one would be that brazen and so unappreciative of a gift.
You know ladies, The thought just came to mind about all the warnings that we give our children about being careful who they trust on the internet. We all have no idea who frequents this site! That is scary!
EXACTLY Lesa!!!
I say that all the time. As much as I love SCS (and I really do) you just never ever know. Take me for example ~ I could be a 6'5" hairy male that gets his kicks from chatting about stamping with 20,000+ women. What better way to fratinize with so many people all in one place. Hmmm - got some of you thinking didn't I. And, just maybe Lana is really some psycho who is stalking all of us rather than the other way around.
Regardless, it really bothers that someone would take a gift and turn around and sell it on Ebay just to make a profit. I truly hope that this person is caught and dealt with accordingly by SU. This guy/gal also would be the type to complain about backorders and "what is SU going to do about it". And if the Ebayer can respond to AngFab anonoumously (sp?) then I say come forward and defend yourself in the open and just tell us the justification of selling the set when you know it goes against the contract that you signed.
I personally just think it's really sad that someone could be so hot to sell a free gift! Sad sad sad! I got mine today and I wouldn't part with it for nuttin'!!!! LOVE IT!
Years ago, at a distillery in my home town, they had to hire extra security at Christmas when they produced those little Holiday bottles. Employees were smuggling them out in their underwear, etc. A man to pat down the men and a woman to pat down the women. It was becoming a BIG loss for them, not just in lost sales, but that federal and state stamp.
So, once again I throw out there - how do you know it's not an insider?
What upsets me the most is when you look at some of the other items people are selling, they are also in the current catalogs, so obviously, this isn't the first time !!!

Well considering I'm NOT an SU demo how would I know that they are going to be 50% off in March. I liked the set I bought it. Teach me to keep my mouth shut. I'm sorry if this stuff bothers the demos and by the way I'm not a stupid stupid customer. After reading this thread I may not be a customer anymore. Thanks For all the lovely snide remarks.
