Default Emboss Edge of Card

Any suggestions on how to put a gold embossed edging on the edge of a card? I tried versamark and ran the card edge across the pad but did not get narrow even results. I guess I could use use glitter and a glue pen but wanted an embossed edge if possible.

Masking an area with a sticky note? Just use one of the larger ones -- or use Hermafix for a temporary glue . . . just thinking out loud here . . .

A temporary adhesive. In the Stampin' Up catalog it's called Dotto adhesive. I've also seen it at ACMoore. You roll it on (like mono adhesive) and when you no longer need it, you just rub it off. It's really cool!

I'm thinking you could put a strip of red-line tape and emboss that, think I remember it is embossable, tho' have not tried it. Linda

The red line tape is embossable. Or you can use a ruler and a versamarker and draw a thick line on the edge of your card then sprinkle it with EP and emboss away. I recommend doing one edge at at time - you'll end up with less smearing that way and not end up with embossing powder where you don't want it.

when I did the edges, I put a piece of tape down, then pushed my versamark pad onto the card stock, then pulled up the piece of tape and embossed, perfect straight line.

Default Thanks you for the suggestions

I love your ideas. I think I will try the tape and my versamark pad first to see if I get the results I like and then I may purchase the versamarker as that might be the best thing to use.

Thank you for your help.

I would try using a gold leaf pen... don't emboss over it, but if you are just looking for a gold edge it works great.

Why not use the versamark pen "Versamarker", It has both a narrow tip and a wide tip. StampinUp sells one for $3.25. You can also use it to write with.

Though I haven't used removeable tape on a card side, it sounds like it would leave a more perfect line than using Krylon pens....but maybe its just me with an unsteady hand. Sometimes I can get 3 sides perfect and then on the fourth forget to hold my breath and it wavers a bit. Ug.

I do this just by running the edge of the cardstock over the veramark pad. I just push down a little from the back of the cardstock as I move it along the edge that I want it on then sprinkle the ep and heat it up, this seems to work really well for me. I do have a versamark pen that I never use so i'll have to try using that instead!

Default Versamarker

Versamarker worked really well for me. I've also used embossing pens available at Michaels but can't remember the brand. - irene
Here's one where I used versamarker.

I really like to use a torn piece of paper as a mask and then apply the versamark to the project. It creates a really pretty, feathery edge.

Emboss a thick line and then put the powder on. Before you heat, use a brush to brush away excess/uneven powder. After that, heat it up. If there are any leftover uneveness, use a metallic marker or a marker in the color of the embossing powder to touch up.

I have used a very thin red tape, [I am sorry but I don't have the packaging to give you the name] It's really a double sided tape, and this worked for me. [quite a while ago now since I've used it, hmmm, must look for it again.] I use the KRYLON pen for my edges, which is a beautiful 18ct Gold leafing pen. Just run it along the edge. Great results!
The Krylon pens also come in Silver, Red & Copper.

Redline tape is, indeed, embossable. I've done it many times in the past.

Your suggestions are great. I have ordered the versamark marker and will try that but I also liked the idea of a feathery edge so I'll have to try that one as well.

This is what I did on some of my Christmas cards this year. They were missing something until I ran the gold pen along the edge.

What is the "red line tape" that has been mentioned above. Is it Stampin' Up's "Sticky Strip?"
