Default Emboss Resist---Am I doing it right?

I am just not sure if this emboss resist technique is turning out the way it is suppose to----I have embossed an image with clear embossing powder on confetti white cardstock. Now I have tried using both classic ink sponged over the image and also pastels sponged over the image. I find that after I am done sponging, I need to try "wipe" ink & /or pastel powder off the clear embossed area as it tends to cover up the clear embossing powder ? I thought it would just "resist" the ink you pounce over it?

Or have I forgotten a step here?

Thanks!

No, you are doing it right. You do have to wipe the ink off. The "resist" is it resists drying and give you time to remove the excess color.

You're doing it right. You just wipe away the stuff on the embossing and there you go!

Way to go for trying a new technique!

Sharri-I haven't tried to sponge or pastel, I just use my spectrum pad and brayer and it works wonderfully. I have a few examples in my gallery if you care to take a look.
