Embossing w/ink jet printer ????

Has anyone tried this? Does it work very good?

From what I've heard just print the wording on paper (I want to use vellum) and then immediately dump embossing powder on it?

My inkjet doesn't have any ink or I'd try it :o Thought I'd see if it really works before I shell out the money to buy a new cartridge.

I'm making invitations for a surprise party and thought the embossing would add a nice touch.

Yes, it works. Use cardstock or heavier weight vellum. Set your printer choices to transperancy setting. As soon as the printer is finished, pull that paper out of the printer and dump the embossing powder on quickly. If you are using small fonts, detail embossing powder is probably better. You need to buy ink for your printer anyway,so why not give it a try.

I don't emboss too much anymore, but when I do I always wonder why I don't do it more often? LOL

I have done this on vellum and yes, it works, but be careful with how close the heat gun is to the vellum--I had it too close the first time and it warped the vellum so much, I had to start over.

I used it on a sympathy card and it gave a really nice effect with the flowers showing through. I used the black ink from the printer and black detail embossing powder. Haven't tried it with colored printer ink and clear embossing powder--wonder if that would work too? (guess what I'm going to be doing today--ha!)

I did it once and I had an issue with the embossing clinging onto the vellum and not tapping off. It looked smudged around the image.

Any suggestions?

Maybe try clear EP instead?

Would you be able to use the embossing buddy on the vellum before running it thru the printer?
