I just gave memo cubes, beaded pens and coasters to my DS's teachers this morning---they loved them! It's fun to do projects that other people really love to receive.

Recently I've been really into refrigerator magnets made using dominoes--they are cheap, fast, easy, and make a nice small gift. I've been using the border stamp from In Full Bloom (thanks to my stamping club demo for the idea), having the stamp face up on my desk and laying the domino on top of the center section, getting the bee and three flowers stamped. It's the perfect width for a domino! Black StazOn, fine Sharpies, and a silver or gold paint pen (for the edges) are all the supplies necessary (besides the dominoes and magnet sticky strips).
i spent months working on a scrapbook for my uncle. he is 86, fought in WWII with my dad, is the last person left in my life of that generation and means more to me than words can say. his health is failing. he recently moved to a nursing home. he is forgetting things and events and people. i wanted him to have a book with each family member in it. it seemed to take forever, and getting decent photos was sometimes like pulling teeth. but he got it on friday and i talked to him sunday. he was overwhelmed and couldn't believe how much work i did. he loved seeing everyone, even if he didn't admit to possibly not remembering the grandkids. he said he looks at it all the time. without a doubt, no stamping project will ever compare to that for me!
CHELSEACAT...THAT IS SO WONDERFUL, WHAT A GREAT NEICE YOU ARE!
THAT IS ACTUALLY ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I HAVE READ HERE ON SCS!
YOU HAVE BEEN BLESSED AND SO HAS YOUR UNCLE!
I used the retired Cherries, Checks and Posies set and stamped on a papier mache box. It was round and just the right size for large paper plates. It took awhile, but it was fun and useful.
I just made my first scrapbook. Well, 2 identical ones, one for each grandmother. I took pics of each kid on a given day. Then I scrapped a 6x6 "A Day In The Life". There were pics of each kid from the time they got up until they went to bed. I made sure each one had an activity that day, a sport or story time or something. I also had each one of them color a paage to put in there. I know my mom loved hers, don't know about MIL.
Composition books are fun to recover. I've gotten started on those two weeks ago and couldn't stop! I have a couple ready to sell at a fair in my hometown and am curious to see how well they will be received.
Lately I've been hooked on Dry Eraser Boards made with either full or half sheet of decorated card stock and covered with laminating sheets. The Dry eraser markers write on and wipe off great. I use velcro tabs to hold the markers to the boards.
