My mom has the plates and I have played with them a couple times. Once I got the hang of it, they did very well. The plates give a differnt look to whatever you are making.

As far as ordering, have you tried Dirt Bike George on Ebay? I have ordered from him several times and he's prices are very low.

Hope this helps.

I got a set of 6 (double sided) at AC Moore with a 40% off coupon. They ended up costing me only $8 or $9. I like them a lot and have used them with my empressor tool. It takes a little time but I love the results. Not sure how well you will be able to see this, but the pink background is embossed using the heart texture plate.

Default plates

I have seen these plates at Walmart this week. You might want to see if your Walmart has them. A 6 (2 sided) set was on sale at 2 of the local Walmarts near me for $7. So, check there and then you won't have to pay shipping if they have them. I did not see the tool there, though.

Fiskars tool is really the key to these. If you watch QVC or Shop at Home a lot of times they have these on their crafters weekends.

I "rushed out" and bought the Fiskars Texture Tool (or whatever it's called) because I thought it would be easier than my regular stylus. The little bearings on the bottom didn't turn. I returned it and got another....same thing. They're basically just garbage...in my opinion, anyhow...

It scratched the crap out of the back of the paper I was dry embossing, and it aggravated my carpal tunnel after a while...so these plates were relegated to the bottom drawer and left there....until I got my Empressor. It's MUCH easier with an Empressor. ( I just checked the Canadian website for Fiskars....they're not even carrying that useless tool anymore!)

I love the look of them though, they really do look nice!!

I just got mine from the shop at home network (I paid $31.66 including shipping & tax for 12 double sided templates and the tool) during their last scapbooking weekend. I find the Fiskars 3-headed tool a real pain to work with and was almost ready to give them away to my nieces. However, my wonderful demo suggested I try the empressor stylus and it worked so much better. I haven't done a lot of texturing yet, but it will be neat to create textured paper in all SUs colors. One of word of warning, the side that you rub the empressor on will become marked up, so you won't be able to display that side.

Take care, Brenda

I got some of these when I 1st started stamping. They look really great on that shiny metallic paper that you can get at craft stores. I too, bought the Fiskars tool but haven't tried it yet. I think I will use my Empressor instead. I made a card for my mom when she walked in a Silver Sneakers marathon. I used it on the shiny silver paper. I will try to attach a picture & I hope you can see the texture.

I really like my texture plates. I got one set at walmart and the other at ac moore. I do suggest buying them in the value packs because it is way cheaper that buying the packs with 4.

I would also like to know what the "Empressor" is also. I've also had no luck with the Fiskars tool.

TIA!

The empressor looks like a big thick pen with rolling balls on either end. You can dry emboss with it without ever ripping the paper and is easier on your hands. Soooo, definitely it is easier to use with the texture plates. I got mine at Walmart. I forget the price.

SU! also carries the Empressor stylus, along with its regular stylus.

The Empressor is a "dual-tipped, rollerpball" tool with "comfort grips," for $10.95.

Why would you have one besides the regular stylus? You can actually use this one on darker paper where you can't really see the template! If you can find about where to start, you just kinda rub this over the CS and it will emboss it.

At least that's how my upline demo'ed it.

My Paper craft magazine has a whole pull out section from Fiskars this month with tons of ideas and I think they are having them in the next 2 issues as well.

Default Using Fiskars texture plates in Zip-E-Mate/Wizard

I got this info off of another board. I don't have either tool, so can't answer questions, but this might help some of you:

They are too large to go through the ZipE-Mate, so this is what I did:

1- draw a pencil line along them to mark the 4 7/8" wide
2- heat with the heat tool real good.
3- after heating, hurry and score a good line down your mark.
4- then lay the sheet along the edge of the table along your score line, put a book or something heavy on it and smack the edge of it. The excess will break off.

If there's just a little jagged edge, I cut it off with the scissors.

Now I can use them in my ZipE to texture background papers and the best part was the pack was 4.99 for 4 designs, but with a 40% off, it was only 2.50 so I didn't mind breaking them.

btw, if you have a Wizard, they will fit in it without cutting them

Okay, this is my first post. Hope it works. I too, have some of the texture plates and like them alot. They have such cool patterns! Right now, they are on sale at ATRS. Almost ordered two more sets yesterday, but reason took over. I bought the texture tool as soon as I saw it. Paid way to much on line . I've used it a couple of times and really didn't like the results. Glad to know others had problems. Might have to try the Empressor. Good thing my DD is a demo!
