Default Going to San Diego/Where should I go?

Hi everyone,

I am going to San Diego for a week with my husband and since I might not be able to see him during the day (he is going for business) I was wondering if you had any ideas of where I should go or what I should do.

Please help! :(

Thank You

P.S. I have never been to SD but I hear that is beautiful.

Sea World ~ say hi to grandbaby Shamu for me. I love that place so much and miss it more than anything else about California. It's wonderful.

I like Sea Port Village they have shops sometimes shows really nice restaurants and you can walk out on the little pier by the walk! Ohh romantic!! There is also old town San Diego good Mexican food (Case De Pico is my Fav)and some shops and a museam type thing. Then there is the same ol same ol- zoo, wild animal park, and sea world!

My daughter lives there, so we are always making the drive down there. The Gaslight district has some great restaurants, Seaport Village has great little shops and there are several malls. Old Town is interesting. Get out to the Del Coronado Hotel---it's amazing. Have fun---the weather is almost always perfect---we'll be down there next week for her wedding.

We went to San Diego on our honeymoon! It is a beautiful place. We went to the zoo, to Balboa Park, took a sunset dinner cruise, went to Legoland (in Carlsbad), drove up to Anaheim and went to Disneyland and then saw the Queen Mary. We had a great time and could have spent forever just shopping around in Seaport Village and other places.

Drive over to Coronado and walk on the beach and have lunch with the cool people at the Hotel Del Coronado. Not that you're not cool!

Cabrillo National Monument with the Point Loma lighthouse is a neat place to go too. When are you coming out? Mornings in the summer can be cool so bring a jacket. The June Gloom cloud layer keeps mornings overcast but it usually burns off by afternoon. For the more adventurous there is always Tijuana, but I wouldn't go alone. I haven't been in years but used to always go shop during the day.

I live here!!

Gaslamp is a fun place to go in the evening or to walk around during the day - lots of great restaurants, shops, and Horton Plaza (a large outdoor mall) is there.

Balboa Park is a beautiful park with the San Diego zoo and a TON of museums.

The beach of course!

La Jolla ia great place to walk around during the day and see some fun shops. Same for Del Mar, but it's smaller.

Legoland is great if you have kiddos.

Sea World, but depending on when you come (right now is spring break and I wouldn't brave it myself!)

Fashion Valley Mall is a great outdoor mall to shop in.

Hmm, seems most of these have to do with shopping!! PM me if you have other things you need specifics on

Oh, how I envy you!!! My brother lives there. He lives in Ocean Beach, which is not that far from Seaport Village. There is a stamp store in Seaport Village, so you'll have to visit there!!
Visit Old Town, which has a GREAT Mexican Restaurant in a place called Bazaar Del Mundo. They have some cute shops there as well.
Visit La Jolla as well. They have some ritzy shops. It's where the elite meet. There is a little beach in center of La Jolla where seals beach themselves at night. It's quite amazing. No one is allowed to disturb them. They are so cute!!
Go see Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, Sea World. Oh my gosh, there's just so much to see and do. My family was out there one year ago this week. It's a great time to be there. HAVE FUN!!!

Default San Diego

The Coaster would work, it would get you to a destination and you can go from there. Carlsbad has an Outlet mall. You've got Balboa Park which has museums and such. Personally, I would get a car just because I like to be on my schedule not anyone else's. Beware though, there are a lot of cars in San Diego and rush hour is awful!
Enjoy your trip

I am jealous!!! I spent five weeks in SD on business about two years ago and it was sooooo great! Even though I was really busy with work while I was there I squeezed in as much fun as I could. I think everyone else has already hit the highlights so I don't have much to add... Just wanted to say that you are going to have a blast and I wish I was going too!!

I used to live in SD, so here are a few ideas...
If you want to eat the best mexican food in SD, go to Fidel's in Solana Beach. I think it is even better than Casa De Pico in Old Town, but then the atmosphere in Old Town is great, too. And there are a lot of shops there.
I would go to the Wild Animal Park instead of the Zoo because the animals aren't in cages and it seems much more natural.
If you like to run or rollerblade, Mission Bay has a great path to exercise. La Jolla Shores is also a great place to walk along the beach.
Mission Beach (if my memory serves me corectly) has a great 'woody' roller coaster that is a cheap thrill. Only costs a few bucks, and isn't that long, but is is super fun! Hopefully it is still running. They refurbished it when I lived there about 10 years ago.
The Scripp's Aquarium is also a nice place to visit.
Gosh, I really miss SD. :( I hope you have a great time!

I have lived here my whole life and could go on and on about everything to do and see, most are already listed, but you can't miss The San Diego Zoo ( we like it better than the Wild Animal Park, but that is us), Balboa Park and all the museums, take the ferry to Coronado and then rent bikes a ride around the island, Sea World, Old Town, Seaport Village,
Also head up to Julian in the mountains for another fun time, just to name a few. It's a grand place to be a tourist, and an even better place to live!!

A rental is a must as San Diego is pretty spread out, especially since you are staying north of the main city.

Isn't there a stamp store in Old Town? Seems like there is/was one on Juan Street. There is also a nice one in Poway, which is real close to me!
