Hi, Are you talking about composition books that you cover, or books that you totally make? I have a couple of websites that might help you out with making them from scratch.
One is from Hot Potatoes where you can order book boards, glue, etc. You can get an idea from their site on how to put these books together at any rate from materials you might already have. I just made one with velvet paper that I liked the way it turned out.

The Hot Potatoes velvet book is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Now if only to find a place to sell it where I don't have to spend $6.50 in shipping for a $12 order!! LOL

You could easily make one of these. You just need to glue a few sheets of cardstock together to make the accorion fold out. I am teaching this is a class next weekend. Just measure how big you want your cover, cut two out of heavy cardboard. cover with the paper of your choice. you only need to cover theoutside since you will attach the accordion book to the inside. Then for the accordion, you want it to be about 1/4 to 1/2 inch smaller than the cover. once you get the measurement for the accordion page, you need to add the width together and glue your cardstock together until it is long enough for all fo you pages, score and fold as shown in the picture on the hot potatoes website.

I think I can handle those directions. Do you just use a glue stick to adhere the pages? Does it matter?

Hi,

I prefer using glue sticks when I make the mini scrapbooks. Make sure you use enough glue then it won't fall apart (number 1 mistake people make when using glue sticks...too little glue)

I know what you mean about having to pay all the money for shipping and handling. I thought once I got the materials in my hand and could see it I would be able to create one from materials I already had or could get readily. The HP bookboards were enough bigger than the accordian part that it needed to be covered on the inside, and was really attractive that way as well. Just an FYI, their bookbinding glue is terrific. I liked it better than the heavy duty office glue stick I've been using for these books. Although, I'm sure the glue stick would work pretty well too. I believe it's by Elmer's glue and is blue, called heavy duty. I've also used spray glue for book covers.

Sandi I have covered many a book cover and I prefer the two way glue that we sell from stampinup. I was in a class put on by Rusty Pickle and they even recommended to two-way glue for covering chip board. It hold very well.
