Question Handmade Papers

I was given some beautiful handmade paper from friend at work. I would like to stamp and colour on it. I would think that if I use my watercolour crayons and blender pens that could be problem. I would think chalks would be best. Has anyone tried stamping and colouring on handmade papers???? Any suggestions - any experiences with handmade papers.

Handmade paper is generally a bit uneven in texture and the absorbency of the inks can be unpredictable. That's why smooth hard-pressed paper is popular for producing sharp stamped images.
You might use the paper as a background, cutting out or punching out stamped images to show as much of the background as possible.
Whatever you choose to do, experiment with a small piece first, to see what happens.

My favorite use for textury usually handmade paper is to cover journals with it. I did stamp on some banana paper from Costa Rica last night and it worked fine. But I had to find a really smooth place. Does that make sense?
