Default has anyone tried making a clock from a cd.

I haven't seen any in the gallery anywhere. And thought what a cute idea,to take a cd and alter it then put the clock mechanism through the center of the cd where the hole is.Then once done.Stand it up in a picture frame that is free standing and it's a table clock.

I came up with this idea and now i have to try to make one.I was just wondering if anyone already tried doing this. Please let me know if you did.I think this would make such a cute gift idea.for birthdays and christmas presents.wedding etc.

That is a great idea. I don't remember seeing a CD clock in any magizines or posted anywhere. Post to SCS when you get one completed. You may be on to something.

If you google a search for "rubber stamped cd clocks" you will find lots of info on this very subject! Some are pretty cool!

Default cd clock

Hi!

I just saw some yesterday when looking through an old Rubber Stamper magazine. If you would like me to scan the pages and email them, let me know.

I made one for dh 3-4 years ago; WAY fun and not terrifically hard. I used one of his large drill bits to make the hole big enough to hold the clock mechanism.

If you take the front side off (just unsnap it from the hinge) and reattach it BACKWARDS it allows the clock to stand up on it's own. If you don't want to mess with the holder a plate stand works just fine....have fun!!

Hi-

Here is one that was posted on Splitcoast a while back. I tried it and it worked beautifully!
You need two things to make it work:
A Flat Metal Washer-size 1/4"
CLock Quartz Movement for 1/4" thick surfaces (found at Mich*als)

The washer is needed because the hole on the CD is too big for the clock movement to fit. The washer makes the hole smaller and then you have a perfect fit!

I also bought a plate stand to set my clock up on my shelf, but there is a hole in the back of the Clock Movement to hang your masterpiece up on the wall!

But, if you leave the CD in the case.....you have a table or desktop clock. You need to remove the front cover and turn it around and reattach to get it to work. Made some a few years ago with a Vegas theme, gave them as remembrance gifts to my stampn' buddies who went with me to a stamp convention in Vegas. They were very well received.
