...where everything you touch turns to $#!@ right before your eyes????
After spending hours this morning scouring the gallery for Teacher gift ideas for Christmas - I decided on stamped candles, travel mugs, decoupaged recipe boxes and etched votive holders.
So...off I go to Michaels and the numerous $$ stores nearby. I get all the necessary supplies for these projects and head home with great (blind) ambition. Ohhh, silly, silly me - what was I thinking?? Well, needless to say, here I sit at 12:20 am, with nothing - yes NOTHING to show for my efforts!!
Here goes the list of failures... first I got the wrong travel mugs from the Dollar Tree - can't get the stinking things apart - no screw on bottom you idiot!!
Oh well, on to the next idea - candles - obviously, my luck didn't get any better with this either. My idea of silver embossed snowflakes on soft blue candles was simply stunning in my head, but the reality of course was far, far less impressive.
You know, candles can really way down a small trash can (especially when they're tossed on top of a couple of useless travel mugs!)
Next, I decided to try the decoupage. After an hour of pasting scrapbook paper on the recipe box, it really DID look pretty decent. So, why on earth would I follow directions... Should have left well enough alone!! After applying the Modge Podge all over the entire box, I was left with a wrinkly, bubbly mess!! My trashcan is brimming over now...
I don't consider myself to be a masochist or anything - so I've quit for the night. I don't dare attempt the glass etching...for sure I would have burned my fingers off by morning...
Boy, DH is really gonna be pissed when he sees the trash to put out tomorrow morning!!
Anyway - thanks for letting me vent - I'm now officially back to SQUARE 1!!
I'm not laughing...really I'm not!!! ;) I have had one too many of those nights lately. Just take a break for a day or two and start from scratch. Don't take your garbage to the curb quite yet. You might be able to salvage what YOU think has been ruined. STEP AWAY FROM THE CRAFT AREA AND NO-ONE GETS HURT!!!!
