Default Help with alphabet stamps!

I am not a "new" stamper and always enjoy being challenged by a new technique. I have quite a few alphabet stamps but hardly ever use them because they always look such a mess!! How can I line up alphabets to make words of my own choice without them looking so amateurish that I just want to toss them? Should I use a stampamajig? Please give me some pointers.

The stamp-a-ma-jig is your best bet to get them to line up. And it is not just good for alphas but all the other types of stamps.

I have the same exact problem getting mine to line up sometimes. What I do is I will bend down to where I can see where the stamp will be on the cardstock, and place it where I want it to be. That usually works for me with some of the bigger ones like pure and simple, but not the smaller like brushstroke alpha. Another thing I will sometimes do is I will purposely not line them up. I will have every other one line up. This way they look good because it was supposed to be that way. Hope I'm being clear!

I am also a big fan of "not lining up on purpose". I like to stamp each letter on a mini tag or something and then place them kind of randomly on my page.

However, if I DO want them to line up, the stamp-a-ma-jig is the only way to go for me. I LOVE my SAMJ. It's also perfect for 2-step stamping or any time you want something stamped in a particular spot. I can't recommend it enough.

Hope that helps!

I have been stampin for about 4 years, a demo for two-three years, and I just finally got to try out the stamp-ma-jig for the first time over the weekend. I don't know why I never bought it? It's on my list now!
