A few of my customers did not trim their stampin' up stamps before mounting them. Anyone know if there is a way to fix the sets they mounted? I know I've heard about microwaving to remount them, but can't find any advice on unmounting, cutting and remounting.
I was clear in my demonstrations that they'd have to trim their sets before mounting.
10 seconds in the microwave will help them peel them off, but you will need something like sillicone paper to stick them to whilst you trim or it will be a mess!
Or they can sculpt away the rubber at the side of the image with a craft knife, I have done this to some pre-mounted wooden stamps that have too much of an edge.
I have been able to use the microwave method to get them off, then I was able to trim and put them back on. I do this a lot with the mounted sets I buy.
It will help cut down on the gooey-ness if you wipe your scissor blades across a versamark or clear-embossing pad before you trim the rubber. The glue won't stick to the scissors nearly as much.
Yes, I have applied for the demo site, I just couldn't find any answers on unmounting, trimming & remounting. So, I just tried posting a thread in the general section.
Thanks for your advice! I don't want future customers to make the same mistake.

Also, have you applied for the demo side here on SCS?
I have trimmed them while mounted with an exacto knife also, when a friend mounted them as is. I even retrim my own closer that way, if they leave marks when stamping the first time.
I trim carefully with an exacto knife first, then heat about 8 seconds in the microwave. Peel off the excess rubber and rub off gunk with a gunk remover like "Oops" from the home improvement store. I would only bother with this if the stamps are used a lot and are causing trouble with excess inky line. With tiny stamps it might be easier just to learn to use a gentle touch with the pad and paper than to recut them. Good luck!

Yup, I use the microwave method and then cut away. I even have to use this method when I buy Heidi Grace wooden stamps because they are mounted and untrimmed when you buy them.
If there's sticky residue on the block after you pull the extra rubber and padding away, dust it with a bit of baby powder and it won't be sticky anymore!
