Help with Dotto dispenser

I cheated when in a pinch and bought Dotto from WalMart. The Dotto was yellowed and a bit gummy, but I used it anyway and now my dispenser is all gummed up. It's gummy everywhere!!

I have loved Dotto up to this point, although I have used Tombow/SNAIL most often. I also tried Duck brand at work and love the way it glides on. The tapes don't break like the other either, but the WalMart's in this area have stopped carrying it now, of course. Anyway, back to the Dotto.

Any suggestions on how to clean it?

Usually I just use a piece of regular Scotch tape and pick up adhesive gunk that way, but you may need to use Goo Gone or something like that. If it were me, I think I'd take the tape out, clean the holder, and start over with a new refill!

I have a similar problem with my Dotto. I have one, used it lots, loved it and THEN after about the 3rd refill it just stopped working. I bought to dispensers and both did this!! I'm bummed because I own about 9 refills and I really love to use it for scrapbooking. I have since switched to vario tabs and I love them!!

I returned mine to Michael's when it began to gunk up and give me trouble. Initially I thought it might be how I loaded the new refill, but then it happened again on the next refill. The gal I spoke with at M's thought it was crazy for it not to work properly and gave me another one.

I Vario tabs haven't given me any trouble to date, goodluck to you!!
