make invitations, RSVP cards, place cards and a memory book for a local high school PROM! She needs 150 (possibly more) and this is where I need anyone's help...
The theme is "The Time of Your Life"
colors: Gold, Sliver, Black & White
She wants me to make up some samples so I am open to suggestions. PLEASE! How much to charge? Per piece or per hour?
Since the number is subject to change, I'd recommend charging per item or per set. If you do a search on selling cards in the forum, you should be able to find some threads that can help you in pricing your work -- usually you take the cost of your materials and add enough on top of that to give you roughly minimum wage for your time spent on each item. I know just last week I reposted some pricing guidelines for materials that someone here gave me a few months ago.
Here are the two options I created for a woman who wanted thank-you cards for her wedding. She ended up choosing the second design. The swans and the text are embossed in silver.

oooh, what a good theme, I can see doing a very simple black card with the lovelya s a tree set, on blackstamp with versamarka nd sprinkle on silver embossing pwder nad hten repeat off set some and sprinke with gold, het emboss and you'll have two sets of metallic trees. Mount that piece onto brushed silver or gold and then onto a black invite....just an idea. Have fun doing this and let us know how it turns out.
Been thru this last year -- You're going to want to keep it SIMPLE. Get a hold of some of the prom books that have tons of ideas in them and then recreate. The internet should work for these same books (sorry, I'm at work and can't recall the names of the companies). I would suggest printing out the invitation on velum and tying onto cardstock with a simple background. Personally, when looking for 150 of something, I thought it was less expensive to purchase from the books. But, maybe there is money in the prom budget for specialty handmade items. Oh, and start very, very early! Go for it and good luck! PS on the 'time' theme, how about one of those hourglass images?
