So do you have to eat while you stamp? I want something that doesn't dirty my hands, tastes like chocolate, and is low calorie....any ideas, lol?!?!? I love having something little to munch on while I work. Usually I go for m&m's, cause they are chocolate and they melt in your mouth not in your hand, right? Unfortunately they are taking their toll on my butt! Ahh....the sacrifices we make for art!
If you're a snackin stamper, what do you reach for?
I usually eat white chocolate covered pretzels. I hate going to Michaels right before a big project b/c they sell them at the counter and some how a bag always falls into my cart ;) If you like raisins you could do chocolate covered raisins.
I keep a can of roasted, unsalted almonds in my stamp room, not really because I need to snack, just because I hate to quit stamping just for something silly like lunch! Every once in awhile I break into the nuggets I keep in there for quick customer gifts.
Thankfully, I have no desire to eat while stamping. I drink lots of water instead. But, I would eat the Oreo 100 Calorie Crisps. I love them for that chocolate, crunch, low cal snack.
Oh God, I have ruined so many cards by leaving greasy fingerprints all over my work.
I am a secret snacker too. It is usually kettle chips and Dairy Milk or Galaxy chocolate. The fingerprints are horrendous.
I eat trail mix - if my hands get messy - well that's what the sides of my jeans are for. If I'm trying to be "good" I'll keep TicTacs, Mints, or gum in my stamping area. That way my mouth has something to occupy it with less calories.

ROTFL!!! See, you should look into the M&M's.....melts in your mouth, not in your hands, no fingerprints!
LOL!! Okay, none of you are helping the low-cal part! I could do chocolate covered raisins...probably a bit better than m&m's!
How can you guys work with the salty stuff though? I don't want anything that might get on my hands and then on a project!
Ohhh, you wanted low-cal suggestions...! I also chew gum or have mints handy. I also drink a lot of water - keeps the stomach from feeling empty. The only problem with that is frequent bathroom breaks!

Ok, I'm the first to admit that I *love* chocolate snacks. . but since you asked for lower cal stuff.. .I really like to snack on Crispix cereal, right out of the box. It's got a good crunch and isn't salty or greasy, and (to me) is more interesting to eat than something like cheerios.
I solve the fingerprint issue by always keeping baby wipes near by. First the baby wipes, then the jeans (to dry my fingers off). I snack on all kinds of things. Might could be why I've gained 40 lbs in the last 6 months. lol
I like Reese's Peanut Butter Cup cereal. I eat it dry as a snack. The calories aren't too bad.
I am so not allowed near that stuff! I swear I could eat a whole box in one sitting. It's addictive! Ever since I had my last son I have been absolutely addicted to that stuff. Ahhh....maybe I'll have that for lunch! Screw the pink grapefruit and pineapple salad I was gonna have, lol!
Try Golightly candy....they are sugar free. They are hard candies so they won't dirty up your hands. My favorites are the chocolate peanut and chocolate mint. Most stores sell them in the diet/sugar free area. Or you can order them online:

ha ha ha... I was going to say mix some M&M's in with cereal. Then you wouldn't be eating all candy. Then I though who am I trying to kid I'd just pick them out!! LOL

Hmm...do they taste like splenda? I have HUGE aversion to fake sugars...I can always tell from the aftertaste. Splenda isn't as bad as the others, but I can still taste it. That's another part of my problem....leaded soft drinks! For some reason they have been making me nauseated lately so I am counting my blessings on that one and haven't had much soda lately!
Emily, I try not to snack while I'm stamping because I get too distracted eating to concentrate on my stamping. If I'm really engrossed in a project of idea, I have no desire to eat at all.
Lately, I have tried having bottled water in my craft room. Somehow it tastes better than the filtered water out of the fridge. I'm drinking more of it even though it costs me more to have bottled water on hand. I figure if I were eating other snack items it would cost me even more. When I drink water it keeps my stomach somewhat full, so I don't feel like munching. I know it's boring, but my vote is for WATER!!

These aren't related to the GoLytely pre-colonoscopy drink are they? HA HA! Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Use a spoon for scooping the greasy/salty/messy snacks into your mouth. I dont really eat while I am stamping, I usually just keep a water or coke in my sidekick. When I have tried to eat while stamping it got all over everything.

Oh poor me!!! - I bought a box of "Sweet Georgia Browns" for Christmas and there are only three left out of 9. I just got them yesterday!!! I wonder where they went? Oh yeah - right onto my hips!!!!!!(lol)
Do you like almond m&ms? You get the chocolate fix, plus some quality protein that helps keep your blood sugar from rocketing up and down. I really enjoy them. Try putting a set amount in a small dish and leaving the rest of the bag in the pantry - where it's not easy to get to in the middle of a project. They're nice and big, so you can eat 'em one at a time without it seeming silly. I think they're delicious, and my kids won't come near 'em! ;)

I LOOOOVE m&m's. When I started stamping I actually LOST a bunch of weight b/c I was keeping myself occupied and wasnt' snacking. Now that I'm on SCS tho I seem to be snacking more (it's a pretty obvious hint that I should get off the computer and get stamping!!!). I'm a firm believer in drinking lots of water tho - it really does curb the snacking urge (when I actually remember to bring some downstairs where my computer and stamping stuff is that is).
Sorry, can't help you w/ the low cal snack. BTW - a lot of those "sugar-free" hard candies (the more expensive ones that is) really do taste great - no aftertaste BUT they are loaded w/ chemicals and I've been hearing that doctors are starting to tell ppl to avoid them (I know I was told I shouldn't eat any while I was pregnant). Anywho just my .02
No recipe needed for the Turtle Chex Mix or the Chocolate Peanut Butter Chex Mix. Just go to the snack food aisle of your favorite grocery store and look for the bags of it.
