Just wondering if anyone has tips for getting ink off of a wooden desk (varnished). I've got ink in about 3 places (don't worry - not basic black) and I'd like to know of something that I could use that wouldn't be harsh or abrasive.
I was thinking of StazOn cleaner, but wasn't sure.
There is a cleaner called Amodex. I heard about it on this site. It is excellent. I got mine at Stop & Shop. They have a web site, which may tell you where to get it in your area.
I've gotten ink out of clothing, wood, plastic, etc.
It's very gentle. I've used it to clean my stamps when nothing else works.
I'm certain that if you can't get Amodex, other people will have suggestions for you.

I have not tried it! You might want to try Simple Green too. Again haven't tried it for taking ink off of wood (works awesome in a 1 part SG to 3 part water formula for cleaning stamps) but it might work.
Good luck!

I used toothpaste to take basic black off of my chair when someone sat on my black pad then sat on my chair. It took a little of the shine off and there was still a slight stain but you can only see it if you are looking for it.
Try rubbing alcohol. It will take a sharpie marker off of plastic or varnished surfaces.
HTH!

When DS was 2, we were packing for a move, and he got hold of a permanent marker (Marks ALot and Sharpie) and drew all over the front of my oak pie safe. My BIL suggested Windex, even on the finished wood, and it took it off without damaging the finish. I've used it all over my house, and it works for me! (Please note: I do not use Windex on dry elbows, pimples, or anything else the Dad from My Big Fat Greek Wedding uses it for--just glass and ink on wood!) ;)
Hope you get the ink off! Let us know what you used...

Thanks so much for all the ideas. I'll give them a try!
Sorry about the black stamp pad - man I'd be MAD!
One of my uplines had a customer who was embossing and using a heat tool - the customer set it on the carpet to emboss - needless to say, a big mess! Everyone's got a horror story, I guess.
I use just a tad of my stampin mist. It doesn't always take it off the first time, but if I do it a couple of days in a row, it works just fine. I do my classes at my kitchen table, and as long as we're not using stazon, I tell my ladies not to worry about the mess...it comes up pretty easy. If I get to it immediately with my stampin mist, it comes right up.
