I am really trying to get this crackle medium to work, but I'm not having any success. If someone has any tips, please pass them on. Here's what I'm doing:
- Painting surface (paper) with base coat - letting dry completely
- Applying crackle medium generously - letting dry completely
- Applying top coat - letting it dry, but on an entire 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper, only about 1 square inch slightly crackled. Ugh!
I'm using a small foam brush, one of the super cheap ones. I'm using crackle medium from Plaid.
I haven't crackle painted paper before, but I have crackle painted a wall. I didn't let the crackle medium dry completely. It was still tacky to the touch. You may also try hanging the paper ... say, with a paperclip or clothes pin. This will allow the top coat to slither down the crackle. I hope this works for you. Good luck!
I agree - don't let it dry completely, only for 30 minutes or so. And only brush it on in one directions (don't overlap your brush strokes). Hope it works!
I've only crackled on wood, and was a while ago, but after applying the top coat I used a blow dryer to get the crackle.
Good luck

I got it to work.... thanks for all the help everyone. I only let the crackle layer dry slightly, and when it was still a little tacky, I painted over with another layer of acrylic paint in a different color. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it now, but it looks so cool in Paper Crafts, that I wanted to try it.
