:( Last night I was assembling my "A Little Love" set, and each time I peeled off the paper backing the adhesive peeled off and would not stay on the rubber. I have tons of sets and have never had this happen before, so I am assuming that this is a problem with my specific set. I'm asking you guys how to handle this since my consultant is in the process of moving across the country (she's on the road now). So, what should I do? Send it back to Stampin' Up? Wait for her to get settled and she can take care of it? Is there some kind of adhesive that I can use to fix the problem myself? Thanks for any and all advice!
I've heard rubber cement works. I've never had to use it myself, but when the question has come up regarding having to remount a stamp, rubber cement always seems to be the first choice.
I would call SU and tell them. You probably could exchange it for another set and the shipping wouldn't cost you anything as SU will give you a number to put on your exchange form. I've had to do this a couple times for something and I received the new set in a couple of days. Carol
I haven't tried mounting my SAB sets yet, but I've heard alot of people are having difficulty with the glue on these sets. It wouldn't hurt to try calling SU but I think your demo will have to take care of the return for you. I'm not positive on that though... maybe a more experienced demo has better info.
As far as adhesive goes, Crystal Effects works wonders.
I think it is because of the cold. I only had that happen once to a set of a customer and great friend, and we got the rubber exchanged. In my opinion if the rubber gets to cold...it won't stick anymore. And even if you pick it up right when UPS comes...during travel time it still gets cold.
I mounted all my SAB sets here in Texas (sorry, don't mean to rub it in that it is mild and snow less here ) and didn't have any problems.
Either call SU and get the rubber exchanged, or fix it with Rubber cement. I saw on my yahoo sites that people recommend putting rubber cement on both pieces waiting a few minutes and then sticking them together.
I think this problem should be taken care of with SU before you try rubber cement or anything else. If for some reason it does not work, it may be hard to get them to replace the new set if you have used glues on it. Just my opinion though.

I'd consider that a defect. You have a couple choices...
Wait until your demo is settled and can call SU for you. They're very good about replacing things like that. Generally, they'll send a new set and pay postage for you to return the defective set.
Glue it yourself. I usually use MonoAdhesive. It's quick, easy and handy. One of my alphabets started coming off after I had already trimmed and mounted it. (Read: I wasn't about to trim another double alphabet!)
If you use rubber cement, apply it to both the wood block and the foam. It makes the bond stronger.
I will wait until my consultant is settled and do an exchange through her. The rubber cement trick is very handy to know - I too have had individual stamps loose their "stick." The only cold weather my stamps have experienced was on the Stampin' Up end - in Utah. Here in San Diego it's been obscenely mild! Thanks again for all of your input!
I have heard that there were some defective SAB sets early on in the production where the glue wasn't sticking. If your demonstrator calls Demo Support, SU will take care of you.
I too have experienced a SAB 2004 set ("A Little Love") that had the same problem... the glue separated from the foam. I live in Canada and yes it has been extremely cold here, the set could have been sitting in the cold for long hours. Many of the pieces of the set were just barely hanging on to the wooden block, so I used a touch of hot glue from a glue gun. If that doesn't hold I will try the cement. I also noticed that the pink rubber was much softer to cut through, I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

:( I have had the rubber come of an alphabet stamp and I glued it with crystal effects. That worked great. That was a tip I read on the Stampin Discuss Board. Becky
I have had a customer who had that happen to her alphabuilder set. I called it in, and they sent a new set and I am returning the others this week. My question is though she had set quite a few with the rubber glue, are they still going to exchange them or because she set some, are they going to charge for the new set? I hope not, as I didn't know she was going to go ahead and do that!
