I've been asked to make a few Thank You cards for a business man. First off, I don't have any 'business' type stamps to show appreciation and thanks. I've looked through some stamping catalogs and visited my local craft stores looking for anything that I could use. I came up empty handed.......HELP, I need ideas and suggestions.....please!! I feel desperate here....LOL
What type of SU stamp sets do you have? I think that you can find a stamp set to do Thank You cards. I would go with more neutral colors (earth family) - not too bright - to do professional looking cards that this person can give out.
Lovely as a tree is always a nice set to use. Very classic. The row of trees can be don on any color and then put the many thanks, or thank you stamp in the lower corner.
I made monogrammed notecards for a male friend once--I stamped his initials on a small ivory rectangle, and cut the corners with a scalloped corner rounder. Then I stuck the rectangle to the middle of a card made of the same ivory color. Since I had stamped in black, I used a blak gel pen to carefully trace around the edged of the rectangle, giving the card just a little bit of interest. He loved them, and thought they were classy and masculine! Unfortunately I didn't scan one, and didn't keep a sample!
Oh, I did his last name in the middle with a capital, and his first and middle on either side with lower case--so it ended up as gWl. I didn't use an SU! alphabet. They were blank inside, so he could use them for whatever he wanted.
What type of business is he in? That should give you a clue as to what sort of character the cards should have. If he's a lawyer, then the cards need a leathery look..formal (earth elements or rich regals). If he's owns a landscape business, then you have options like using flowers and trees...so I think that is your first question.

See, that's just it.....what I have is mostly KIDS type...cute as a bug, little engine, kids at play, toy box, etc.....AND then EVERY floral stamp made (I think.....lol) I've gone through my text type stamps and have a couple different "thanks""thank you" stamps I can use, but nothing with sayings towards appreciation, efforts, their time given....you know....more 'business' related. Anyone know where I might find some stamps that have 'business' related sayings??....OR....have another idea that might help me??
I do have a lighthouse stamp that I plan on watercoloring this weekend, but after that, I have nothing.....
I agree with the earth/neutral colors and also the deep rich blues, browns and reds. I have the colors I need here, but I don't have stamps...for my front focal point, nor, business type sayings for the inside....any help??...anyone??

Nina....Great Idea, I don't have this set...looks like its time to get it....LOL...I love it when I have an 'excuse'.....LOL
He's a plant manager at an automotive assembly plant....I know he does NOT like antique cars.....he does NOT like hunting or fishing....and I know he rides a Harley.....that's about all I know.
Thanks for all your suggestions, I never put the occupation with a character of the card before. I really appreciate the insight!!

If you can still order from the winter mini, the Office Ephemera set makes some great masculine cards, and it also looks great with the color scheme you are going for.
How about espress yourself, just wanted to espresso my thanks! I did that one for my husbands thank you cards. I used a stripe paper with black and bright stripses and brown paper for the coffee beans. very bistro or modern jazz looking!

Mel,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I just recently found a SU! demo here locally and all I have to look at is the 2004-2005 Idea book/catalog.
Since I'm new to the site, is there an area that the stamp sets are displayed?? I couldn't find that set at the SU! website either. :(
Printing your thank you or other sentiment on vellum.
If you have an inkjet printer while it is still wet you can coat it with embossing powder (use fine detail for the best results) and then heat it from the underside.
Then you can layer the vellum over your stamped background with your lighthouse and attach vellum with brads (Non-girly ) and twine.
Just a thought....sounds like you have some great ideas already!
Oooh..how about embossing in black a simple Thank You from one of the sets...or if you like the idea of doing the monograms, emboss them in black...embossing in black is very formal and looks like engraved invitations! You wouldn't need much else on the front of the card.
What is he going to use the thank you notes for? If it is a note enclosure with a small gift to a client, perhaps you should discuss a stamp of a company logo or symbol.
As for other business thank you notes, you might check with a business etiquette book as to what is appropriate. I thought plain or monogrammed stationery, or company letterhead with matching envelopes are the standard.
Generally business thank you stationery is formal, and the personalization is in the text.
Since he asked you to stamp something, maybe he has something in mind. Do a little research and give him some options, prior to mass production.
As far as I'm concerned, the only stamp you really need is a Thank You stamp. Just make a nice background like polished stone or crinkled chalks and then mount your Thank You on the front with brads or eyelets! Quick and SIMPLE!

I agree that all you need is a "thank you" stamp. I have made very simple but elegant thank you cards with a script thank you and emobssing powder. Use ivory cs and emboss with gold or black. It looks very elegant but is very easy to do. I think making up some samples and giving him options is a great idea.

You can go to the Stampin' Up! website (www.stampinup.com) and click on "Enjoy the Warmth of the Winter Mini....." When that page pops up, scroll down and they will have list of the sets and you can bring up all the images in that set. They also have a spot where you can see samples made with that set as well.
Hope this helps! I immediately thought of Office Ephemera when I read your post. But hurry! The Winter Mini is only good through the end of this month!
Dry embossing is another great way to do masculine cards. Just dry emboss the edge only and stamp the thank you in the center. They look very nice and have a classic look to them. Just my 2 cents

I totally agree with ilove2stamp2001. Don't drive yourself crazy trying to come up with something fancy. Simple is more masculine.
Since you have different colors of cardstock, just embellish with layers, maybe a cord or leather and Thank-you!
How about a strip of coordinating cardstock down 1/2 of the front and Thank-you stamped and mounted centered on the two? Or, flip the card sideways, (so it opens from the bottom), put coordinating cardstock across top or bottom half and stamp Thank you in the lighter colored half.
I also agree with the idea of making several prototypes before you mass produce!!
Wow, such great ideas! I've been trying to design some easy-to-crank-out card sets, and I think I may have to try some of these!
Audrey, if you have the retired set The Shape of Things, you might be able to use it for a variation on aslangirl's card. I can't wait to see what you finally come up with!
