Default Help with pricing

I am donating a set of 4 coasters that I stamped for a school fundraiser. I have made these as gifts but have never sold them. The people running the auction have asked for a value. I have no idea what to tell them! How much do you sell them for at your craft fairs?

Thanks for your help!

I've seen very plain coasters in stores for $20 or more. ;) The higher $ value you put on it, the better "deal" someone is going to think they're getting!

Belinda,
You crack me up! I love your sense of humor! I was thinking $20 was a fair price and curious to see what others thought. It's just to help them set up the bidding in a silent auction fund raiser!

Yikes, that's too little! I've seen people say they sell the sets of 4 at craft fairs in the range of $15-20.

Glad for this info - I'm getting ready to have coasters (in several patterns) in a local craft fair in a couple of weeks. I package them in a homemade box and planned to price them at $15. I know that if I ran across these a few years ago before I was stamping I would think they were a steal at that price!

Wow, really? I was planning on doing 4/$10. I thought that was about what I'd seen others saying... I think I saw $12 for some people. I guess people's experiences are all over the map.

I charge $18 for 4. Don't under price your work. Not only should you be charging for your supplies but also for the time you spent on it. Alot of people on here seem to forget to add in how much their time is worth.

A good way to figure out a price is to figure out how much you want to make an hour and then how many coasters you can get done in an hour. Divide your hourly wage by the number of coasters you got done and then add the cost of supplies per coasters to this number. This will give you a price per coaster. So if you are selling them in a set of 4 then times that number by 4. Does this make sense?

Here is example to simplify it:
I want to make $20 an hour for my time.
I get 8 coasters done an hour.(Give or take depending on how my kids are behaving. LOL)
20/8= $2.50 per coaster for my time
Now you have to add the cost of supplies to this. So lets say I spent $2.00 per coaster for supplies.
$2.50+$2.00= $4.50 per coaster
Now I want to sell them in a set of 4.
$4.50x4= $18.00

So I would sell my coasters for $18 for a set of 4.

Hope this helps someone!

How hard is it to make the coasters? I have thought about making 4 coasters with my kid's pictures on them (three girls) and then one with our family picture...
I believe that I transfer the picture to tissue paper and then modge podge them on coasters from a hardware store?
I will have to give it a shot...not to sell, just for ME!!!
BUT...it would be worth my time and frustration to pay for them. I would pay $10.00 a set but not sure about double of that! I am cheap though...and usually buy things to try and figure out HOW I can re-make them!
Good luck...I am sure that they will sell no matter what price you choose.
