Does anyone have any tips for tying bows? I am horrilbe at it and always have a hard time getting them to look pretty. The other problem I have is trying to keep them pretty while putting them in envelopes.
- edit to reword my question to make more sense-
(my brain is too tired )
Hopefully this will make sense. If you tie your bow left handed it will always come out perfect. Another words, when you have the loop in your left hand take the right tail and go around the loop from the back and then go through the center. (A right handed person will normally take the right tail and go over the loop from the front).
I don't know who gave me this hint but it works everytime. And if you just can't get that to work, take your card and mount the ribbon and turn your card upside down and tie the bow - then the tails will be going down the right way.
I gave up trying to tie bows, and bought a bow maker thing from "The Card Ladies" on the 'net. It works for all sizes, even the tiniest. It's on sale right now too. I'm not affiliated, just a happy customer.
That was a cool link! I do something similar with my "bow tying"
Punch 2 holes side-by-side. Push ends of ribbon through each hole from the front. Then from the back, push each end through the opposite hole. That's it!! Learned it from my demo b/c she hates to tie too!!
You can see some examples of the finished product in my gallery.
Something that always works for me is to turn my project upside down, and then tie it and the tails hang perfectly.
So if I am putting a bow on the top of my card I punch my holes, thread my ribbon, turn it around so the top is now the botton and tie.....turn back around and it is done.
Make sense???
