When I put together my first Stampin' Up! stamps, I did not trim them well. Some of my stamps give me those tell-tell lines. Is there a way to take them apart, retrim them, and put them back together?
I pop mine in the microwave for 5 seconds, this heats and loosens the adhesive. Then you can carefully peel them off, trim, reposition, etc... and then put back on, usually without having to add any additional adhesive to make it stick.

I don't usually take apart stamps that are mounted unless absolutely necessary. I have received some in trade that I trimmed closer. I flip the stamp up (wood down) and use a sharp exacto knife or box trimmer. I haven't had any trouble doing it this way. If you want to unmount, the easiest way is to pop the mounted stamp in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Others say longer, but i find this is generally enough to warm up the adhesive so that you can remove the rubber and foam. Be careful because the whole thing will be hot when you take it out. Then trim and remount. You may need to use some rubber cement to remount. ( I read where someone used crystal effects to remount and has had no problems with it.)
Good luck.

I have never had to take my stamp off once I have mounted them but I have heard that you can put them in the microwave so that you can unmount the rubber. Not sure how long. Anyone else know the specifics to this question?
Oh, and I use corn starch or baby powder on the exposed, sticky bits (this is after you've trimmed your stamp). And yes, I do the microwave method..usually 10 seconds or less.

my very first SU! stamps were awful ... but I used an exacto knife as well to trim them up ... never took them off the blocks.
I even use the knife to clean up store bought stamps.
