I was asked to do wedding invitations for a friend who is getting married in Vegas... What do I do? What stamp set would work for this? I need help!
TIA!
Krissy
We are going to Vegas next month with our friends - and they are going to get married there. I am going to make the announcements/reception invites once we get back.
My idea is to print a picture from the wedding on a 1/4 or 1/2 sheet of cardstock with a vellum overlay w/the info. Then, on the bottom corner, I'll stamp the martini glass (I got one of those martini $ stamps from Michaels) w/black ink and color it in, using CE for the olive (saw that in the gallery) and put it on a square piece of cardstock.
This is all assuming the go with the cocktail party idea. If not, then I'll be checking back to see what other suggestions you get!
We got married in Vegas last June and I just used the Teriffic Tulips and did a vellum overlay with our info on it - it was more of an announcement...then on the inside I did an invite to our reception. BTW - DH would NOT go for the pink passion tulips, they had to be brilliant blue...LOL!
You can really do whatever you want...what I really wanted to do was a martini theme, but since DH is a beer man he didn't go for that either...ironic that we'd agree on flowers!!!!! :P

if you do a search in the gallery and in the threads there was someone recently that was making announcements for a vegas wedding, (I am sorry i don't remember who and I don't ahve time to search) she used a red flower and vellum over the top and then had the info printed on it, it was very cute and the wording was what was vegas themed not the stamping, I loved it...hope that helps, if you can't find it let me know and I will search for it later...Missy

First, you need to find out if your friend is wanting a Vegas themed invitation at all. If she just wants a normal invitation that happens to say the wedding is in Vegas, there are lots of ideas out there for you.
If you're really looking for a Vegas theme, you might just use the square in Simple Shapes to make a pair of dice -- you could stamp in white, use heat & stick and make glittery dice -- whatever. Then you could either stamp the dots on the dice with a darker color, or use a small 1/8 or 1/4 circle punch to make the dots. The words could be something to the effect of "Celebrate with a Perfect Pair as they walk down the aisle in Las Vegas." Of course your dice should match.
Of course, if they are getting married at Paris, the Paris in the Spring set has an eiffel tower.

Ok, so thanks for the suggestion! here is what I came up with... It needs something else I think.. It is a little to plain for me.. Any suggestions? something different all together? I don't know!
I think it looks good the way it is. I like how you incorporated all the ideas and ended up with that card. If you want to spice it up, I understand the black & white of it but maybe you could use a color & white, maybe whatever accent color she might have picked for the flowers or whatever. But, seriously it is really cute the way it is, but not to cutsie!
How about adding a touch of color with ribbon? You could attach the layers with a cheater bow instead of eyelets, or just wrap a length of ribbon around the top and tie it.
A LONG time ago, I did a Vegas scrapbook page where I embossed the brads with glitter. You could attach your vellum with glitter brads instead of eyelets.
Just hold the brad with tweezers, heat with a heat gun, dip in heat & stick, heat briefly and then dip in glitter and zap to set. (Or you could use clear embossing powder instead of heat & stick and dip in glitter while still melty).
