I wish I could go but we have to go watch my husband's son bowl in a pro-bowl tournament south of Springfield. Jill - could you please let us know if there are some cool vendors. Enjoy your day!
Sue
Sue, I got my card in the mail today. It is just too beautiful! Thanks for putting so much work into this for all of us. I can't wait to meet everyone.
Okay, girls, I have an idea. Now this may be a dumb idea and I'm not sure it's even one that SU allows you demos to do. Here it is.
Would any of you be interested in bringing one of your favorite stamp sets and letting all of us stamp one page of images from it? We would all bring our own paper and if there's a stamp set we would like to try, we would just stamp on one page of our paper.
It would mean having to bring two more things - a stamp set and cardstock. Does this make sense? If we wanted to do this I think I'd have you post which set you're bringing so we don't end up with the same sets.
Let me know your thoughts. And I apologize in advance if this is against SU policy.
Sue
I think that is a good idea! I have done that before with friends who want to make lots of cards with a stamp set they did not have. That way you have is stamped, you just have to color and cut.
I don't think that is against SU! policy all we are doing is stamping the image, as long as we are not selling it.
Good Idea!!
Mindy
If you want to bring a stamp set to the swap, then, for each of us to use, please post the name of the set. You could even bring a couple sets if you want. I have a retired one that I bought on EBay a couple months ago that I really like called "Friendships Grow". I'll bring that one and a couple of the stamps from "Summer By the Sea" (I don't have the entire set).
So---did anyone go to the Stampin & Scrappin show here in Bloomington? I didn't make it over there so I was wondering how it was.
Too funny----my parents went over to the building thinking it was the home show & imagine their surprise when they saw women going in with rolling suitcases!!! They went in & realized it was the stamp show & called me (like I had no idea it was going on!!)!
Sue--got your GREAT note in the mail this weekend. You put a LOT of work into that & it's wonderful! Thanks so much!!!
Just a question......I'm trying to decide on my shoebox sample & couldn't remember if we were to use all SU products? Most of mine is but the ribbon.......
Thanks & have a great week---only a little longer til this fun event!! Thanks, Sue, for putting it together!
Hello Ladies!!!
Yes. I did go to the show here in Bloomington. It was fun. There was a guy there demonstrating a new eyelet setting tool that was pretty cool. It had three tools, each with a different size tip... for punching and for setting. The kit was like $38... so I didn't get one. I think you'd really have to love eyelets to invest in that. He had eyelets punched in his necktie!!! They had several make & takes going on at different booths. There were a lot of scrappers cropping at the work tables. It was pretty busy! Definitely worth the $5 admission. I bought a couple of stamps and a set of aqua painters (set of 3) for $5.99. Worth checking out next year!
Also, Sue... I think your idea is great about bringing a stamp set to "share". That would give us something to do if we're waiting for our next shoebox. Good thinking!
Got one more registration today. Only 3 left and two of those are in the mail I'm told. The last one I'll get Thursday when I go to pick up my SU order from Dawn. Thank you, girls, for your prompt responses and all the positive support you've given. :o
Sue
Sue
I got your card today! It is awesome! I have work to do.
I know what I am making for the swap, Just waiting on my order to start cutting and preparing.
Take care
Mindy
Thank you girls!!!All registrations and fees and most of the stamping tips are here! You did terrific!
Just to let you know, I ordered In Full Bloom today for my shoebox and I'll bring the entire set if any of you don't have that set and would like to stamp some images to take home. Remember to put your name on all of your tools and stamps.
I have already learned lots from you just by reading your stamping tips - all very helpful.
Remember to post your stamp set if you're bringing one to share.
Sue
Wow!! I'm impressed!!! Only a little more than 3 weeks---I'm getting excited!!
Sue, can I change my set to Puppy Love? And my friend Linda is bringing Netherlands for image stamping.
I'm having such trouble deciding on what to do for my shoebox....I have 6 samples that I really like..... Just afraid everyone else will have such fabulous ideas & mine will pale in comparison!

Lisa - You gotta be kidding me, right? After those gorgeous cards you and Linda sent. No, it's me that will have the project that will pale in comparison. Remember, I'm a newbie.
Of course you can change your set.
My husband and I went to check out the rec center again today. I had to make sure they will have enough tables and I needed to know how long they are so I can get some paper to put on them.
I have your nametags made now. If someone in your group cannot come and you are bringing a different person please let me know so that I can make them a nametag.
How about posting a compiled list of what everyone is bringing for shoebox and what everyone is bringing for the other... so we can fill in if we decide to bring a set?

Great idea. I'm assuming you're talking about stamp sets. Anyone got a suggestion how to handle this so it doesn't get buried? Do you want to pm me or just post it on this thread or start a new thread? I'm bringing:
For my Shoebox: In Full Bloom
For sharing: Friendships Grow and two stamps from Summer by the Sea (the one of the little boy making a sand castle and the one of the girl with the hat looking out towards the sea). Will also bring complete In Full Bloom set if anyone wants to use it.
Now, I can edit this with all of yours if you let me know what they are.
Sue
Are there any sets that people are looking for? I have some retired sets that I could bring if someone was interested in using them to stamp some images.
I also wanted to post that I got a chance to go shopping in Bloomington today. I went to three scrapbook stores and one stamping. I bought way to much! It is amazing how many scrapbook stores have completely different paper. Two of the stores had coupons on their websites so I got to save 20% on one item at two of the stores.
The stamping store was small but I thought had a great variety of stamps. I just have a hard time buying a single stamp since I am used to buying sets. I did get a couple little accessories that I have never seen anywhere else.
When I got home I told DH how much I just love how the scrapbook stores are all so close, you can hit them all in no time! I think he is worried now.

Can't wait for the swap.
Amanda, Was the stamping store Pocketful of Memories? I've been wanting to go there. There is a wonderful stamping store in Springfield - Prairie Art Stamps. It's in the basement of a house and hard to find but what a goldmine! The owner is so helpful, too. She has lots of stuff you don't find at the craft stores. She also has a classroom where she teaches some awesome stuff. I spent several hours there Friday. I'm going to take one of her bookmaking classes.

The stamping store was pocketful of memories. They told me that they own both the scrapbooking and stamping store there. I have only been to Springfield once since I moved down to what I call "southern illinois".
I guess I am going to do some research and find other stores in the area and make that another Saturday trip. DH is working on remodeling the house so sometimes it is better for him if I am not around. He says I can distract him. I keep telling him I need his input on my creations, tried to give him a title this week to make him feel good. I told him he was on my design team!
Sue - I am planning on riding with Ellen. We need to PM each other and figure out details. I also thought that Mindy said she was in our area. Maybe we could see if she wants to come with us.
I am so excited for this day for more reasons than just a swap. It is the first WS of my newest recruit. She is so nervous but we are meeting alot to get her ready. I am just a proud little mama
I think for my stamp set to bring it will be Toile Blossoms. It is my favorite set and has become my best OSW set.
I have not narrowed down my swap set yet but I will update you when I figure it out.

Oh how sweet Heaven sounds when you have sent a loved one there.
I had a stamper cancel and now have an opening for ONE more. I've asked the girls that were on the waiting list and they are not able to come now either. So - if you know of someone who'd like to join us let me know. We are at 24 stampers now, including myself.
When you get to Lincoln on Swap Day and you go past the high school, the rec center's sign says "Lincoln Park District". There is a reader board and they may put us on there. If you get lost the number at the rec center is 217-732-8770 (I really don't think you'll need it, though).
If you have Stampin and Scrub pads you want to bring them along.
It sounds like the gals that went to Bev Barton's stamping day had a great time. I've also talked with bebedoc (Lynne) about her Shoebox in Dayton last weekend (30 gals) and they also had a wonderful time. I expect our time together to be no less!!!
It is not difficult to find the rec center. But, if you're worried, you may pm me for my cell number. I always carry my cell so I would be able to give directions.

Sue...
You said you were going to take a book making class in Spriingfield. What kind of book?? I am gathering "stuff" to start dabbling in Altered Books and would love to take a class on that if there are any out there! Do you know if the store in Springfield has a website??
Jill,
Can't remember what Teri called the books but they were the size of a pocketbook and were bound using wooden scewers (spelling?) that were held together with some kind of weaving using colorful fibers. At the end of the fibers were beads.
She is very, very helpful and passionate about her crafts. When I was there last week she showed me some of the card fronts she and her students made using bleach with templates and bleach with stamps. They were so beautiful. She also sends out a newsletter now and then.
Hi Sue,
Thanks for the website... it looks like a really fun store!! I think the book you are talking about is called a Piano Hinge Book.. very cool!!! Looks like she does do Altered Books, but not on her upcoming schedule.
Also... how long do you think it will take us to get to the rec center from Bloomington???
For the stamp set... I think I'll bring Coast to Coast.
Does anyone have the new Balmy Breezes set they could bring???

Jill - Yes - that's what she called the books. They are really neat. She said she has a friend in Champaign that has a store and she takes classes from her - don't know her name but it sounded like this gal gets some well-known crafters to lead her classes. Maybe one of you from that area would know.
Is Coast to Coast the lighthouse set? If so, I'm drooling....... :P
