Anyone else notice this? Went to Hobby Lobby yesterday to get some tags. Waited until the Paper Studio items were on sale. Get this, they no longer put Paper studio on the products anymore. Packaged very generically as "Tags" or "envelopes". One of the associates said all the Paper Studio things will no longer be labeled as such and therefore none of will be 50% off. Beyond disgruntled. I try not to give them my $$ anyway, but needed the tags. Will not be shopping there anymore.

I honestly have not shopped there in years. There are plenty of places to spend my money with policies more aligned with mine. I have known a couple of people who have worked there over the years and both said the work environment was toxic.
Not long ago, there was a thread here that HL discontinued their 40% off coupon. Just another reason to shop elsewhere.
You will find other places to take your money.

I went in for some glue dots and what were listed as mini dots were actually bigger than the next size up in comparison to what I was used to buying. Took them back because I thought maybe someone had put the wrong size in the box while checking them out in the store and got the same thing. Haven't been back and won't buy their glue dots in the future.

My Hobby Lobby sttil puts some great deals on their red tags when they are trying to clear their shelves for new stuff. I will always be a regular customer as it is nice to have them in business and you can pick things up in person. When I go to ordering too much from many sources on line, I quickly spend more than my budget and shipping adds too much to the bill sometimes too. HL, I still love ya!!

I agree. For “in person craft shopping” (and with everyone else closed) they have great options and decent prices. I live in a big city and our Hobby Lobby is quite nice. Now Micheal’s? That’s a whole different story! LOL

Another thumbs up for Hobby Lobby- they still carry a variety of stamping items and their clearance is awesome. Too bad about Paper Studio no longer being 1/2 off......
Michaela has very little anymore in the store for paper crafting unless you use a Cricut.....
Our Joann's- depends on the store..... some have much less than others.....
I am bad with online orders, usually buy enough to get free shipping..... but, I also shop sales, so there you go : )
Since I have moved from CO to PA I haven't shopped at Hobby Lobby, there are a few stores in the area but none near me. The stores I shopped at in CO were big and well stocked and I will miss getting Christmas decor there this year.

I feel fortunate to have several regionally or locally owned stores close enough to me so that I don’t feel obligated to go to HL. Craft Warehouse in OR and SW WA, plus Artco in Tacoma and Ben Franklin in western WA have home decor and plenty of papercrafting choices. I love being able to support smaller businesses with local ties.
I envy you being able to shop at Craft Warehouse. I used to shop at the one in Wenatchee a couple times a year on annual trips over the mountains. Then it closed but I have been to the one in Vancouver, WA once and wanted to stay all day! I don't go to HL for things much any more because of my glue dot experience and when our large LSS closed one of the employees opened a small store and I support her as much as I can.

I agree HL paper crafting section very disappointing but then so is my Michaels. While I prefer to shop in person I am more and more inclined to online shopping. Seriously, I tell myself I don't need anything. Then someone showcases a new paper pad or tool and...well you know what happens next!

I'm saddened to hear the disgruntled complaints. Is it that they're Christian? My Hobby Lobby has been great all along but does look like the shelves are thinning, as so many stores are in these times. Michael's has discontinued stamping all together, so there's not much of a choice out there.

I have a Michael's and a Joann near me, so I haven't been to HL ina a few years. I don't care for their policies, but most of all I rarely find what I want there, and the lines are long and slow.
I complained to Hobby Lobby when they stopped issuing the 40% off coupons. They said, "It's to serve our customers better so we can put more things on sale." I told them I preferred to make my own sale item every week because they put the same things on sale over and over again. No reply from that. In my small town, we have a mini JoAnn store so I need to stop at Hobby Lobby every once in a while to get what they don't have at JoAnn. I especially like their super heavyweight card stock.
It's nice for all of you to have some kind of choice as to where you can get craft items. I have a Hobby Lobby 45 minutes from here, and a Michael's an hour away. Joanne's is 1 1/2 hours from here. It's hard to get to that one - and the one in Waco, TX doesn't have much. Their paper cutters and punches are ONLY Fiskars, and the selection is poor.
So, I guess it's online for me!

mmhanson - I hope you're aware of all the great places you can get stamping supplies--Simon Says Stamps, Scrapbook.com, Amazon, and even Walmart (I just ordered some Woodware stamps from WM, along with watercolor paper that Amazon wanted $25 for but Walmart only wanted $10).
It is sad to see retail stores going the directions they are going. Seems that unless you shop online and pay the shipping charges you can't get a lot any more. Have only shopped HL a few times in the last year. No coupons to use for the things I need. Seems that not labeling the products correctly if they are made by Paper Studio and they still list Paper Studio products on sale regularly - something isn't right! Will have to pay more attention to ads in the future. I never buy anything that isn't on sale. I also always use a coupon when I can. Don't pay full price for anything if at all possible. It is sad.
Love my local Hobby Lobby, And Michaels. Both have thinner shelves since Pandemic, but always have great sales and clearance! And great service at both! Joanns is not what they used to be for paper crafting, and they are further away, too.
I mainly shop at J's for paper when it is 10 for $2.00. M's does not have much that interests me. I shop at HL ever other week at lunchtime to see what is on sale or on Clearance.

I have boycotted Hobby Lobby for years but was desperate for some embellishments for fall cards. I found all kinds of Thanksgiving items but couldn't find any Halloween. I asked the cashier as I checked out and she looked at me with disgust and said " We Don't do Halloween!" She continued to glare at me as she rang up my order so I didn't smile like I usually do. This experience seals it for me: Never again will I shop at HL.

That's bizarre! What state do you live in?! Our Hobby Lobby has had oodles of Halloween stuff out for a month now.
In MO they have no Halloween! I didn’t know this and I was treated badly when I just asked where it was! “we don’t do Halloween.” (Plus a glare )
I live in MO and our Hobby Lobby has carried Halloween items before. I haven't been in the store lately. But in past years fabric with a Halloween idea was there as well as ghost icons that light up. it is sad you got the glare. That is poor customer service. It is possible that person's job could be short lived.
I still get heavy weight cardstock and vellum there and it is good quality. Our store has the Paper Studio product labeled. My husband shopped recently for me and it was Paper Studio product. If they are changing the labeling, they are hurting themselves. I agree that removing the coupon was a bad decision. I used it for many items that were never on sale.
I have a Michaels, HL and Joann's all within 3 miles of each other...go figure! HL is the newest & largest and had been looking forward to shopping there.... SO DISAPPOINTED. Huge store but their paper/stamping items are so very limited. Hardly any customers there...ever. Customer service is a joke...and of course the company attitude is an issue for me. Hardly go in there...maybe once or twice a year and only with a 40% coupon....SO, if that doesnt exist anymore, no reason to shop there...ever! I still like Michaels, but the craft supplies I like are getting fewer and fewer. Our store is focusing on Cricut..which i don't have.
I’ve already spoken about HL. Michaels has Nothing! Tiny tiny end cap with all of Halloween and no paper. No ribbon either.
JA has very limited everything this year as well. I do order online a lot when they have sales. Tues AM has discontinued All crafts!
So I’m feeling quite nervous about our future as paper crafters. What I gulped and paid $23 for 25 sheets of paper jumped to $39 in a month.
I luv Hobby Lobby and their sales. I was just there last week when all Paper Studio items were 50% off (at least in my area). That's when I stock up on cardstock and specialty paper pads.
I have noticed that some paper products, tools, and accessories used for papercrafting are labeled "Paper Crafts" which are not included in the Paper Studio sale. The ad for this week has Paper Crafts on sale for 40% off in my area.

I've been disappointed with Tuesday Morning and their lack of craft supplies lately. I was told by a sales clerk they have not been getting craft inventory due to COVID and suppliers. However, last week I picked up a couple packs of glitter cardstock and sports theme paper kit that was on clearance.
I have also boycotted HL because I was looking for some Halloween merchandise last year and they didn't have any in the store in Spokane, Washington. I asked the checker and she confirmed that they don't sell Halloween stuff. I then went to Michael's and found what I needed.
I enjoy our Hobby Lobby and find their selection (for cardmaking) to be quite good compared to similar retailers (Michael's, JoAnn's), at least as to what I've found in-store at the ones closest to me.
Though I'm sad the coupon is no longer a thing, I've found they rotate their sales on a pretty predictable basis (every 2 weeks/every 3 weeks, depending on the category - at least the ones I watch for!), and put some items at deeper discounts when on sale I don't recall seeing when the coupon was there.
I did notice the change in "Paper Studio" labeling though and was disappointed I couldn't stock up on a few items the last time I went in during that sale period and found those items weren't labeled that any longer. Don't ask me what they were - I doubt I needed them that bad! :lolo:
Have a great day, everyone!

I now buy mostly from SU!, G45 and online. I used to buy paper and jewelry components from Hobby Lobby but I don't like the way they treat their employees and I don't like their other policies.
I live in MO too. The poster that said Hobby Lobby doesn't carry Halloween lives in Webb City. Webb City doesn't have a Hobby Lobby. Hence why they don't carry Halloween, lol.
The closest HL to Webb City would be Joplin. They do carry Halloween. Springfield is the next closest with two stores that have a large amount of Halloween.
I have bought Halloween items over the years from Hobby Lobby and never received a Christian side eye. The cashiers and employees have always been curious and excited about the items I bought. They have a large amount this year too.
Since I am in the same area as the poster, Hobby Lobby usually keeps their displays of Halloween by the registers. You can't miss it. You don't need to ask where it is since it is in your face, lol.
Trust me I know my State is weird, lol. I get so embarrassed when we make the news. So many of you know of the horrors I have been subjected too in the past couple of years in my area. I am definitely not cheerleading or being on the side of Hobby Lobby or my State.
Halloween is not against their Christian Dogma. The employees I know at my stores love Halloween. No. I don't agree with the owners controversies. I am not a Christian and I am a minority. If HL was this evil cesspool of Halloween hating then I would be enemy #1. That is not the case.
Strangely the store I had Christian hate from was Michaels. That was two employees and not Michaels.
I just checked Hobby Lobby has tags on sale this week. Fact checking. ;)
I live 60 miles one way to a Joanns, Walmart and a Dollar Tree. The nearest Hobby Lobby is 120 miles one way.
I can shop online if everything is at peace with the internet gods. But, I'll live this way, to have a home surrounded with mountains, clean air and water, and only 4,000 people for the surrounding 45 miles. That's what gives me inspiration and time to craft and design.
So, I guess I'm not purple with envy maybe a light shade of lilac.

I also was looking for Halloween or fall card embellishments recently. Hobby Lobby had none. A DollarTree nearby had several packages of stickers that were quite nice...dimensional, metallic, etc.

The last few times I ventured into a Hobby Lobby, I discovered the registers do not automatically give the sale price on items. If you don't tell the cashier for each item that's on sale, they ring up the wrong price. And worse, the last time I told the guy and he put the discount on the lowest price item, not the correct higher priced one. I didn't see it until i checked the receipt, so then spent another half an hour getting it corrected. Not worth the hassle shopping there.
I'm starting to feel like, as a card maker, I'm an endangered species! I used to be in Michael's once a week; now if I go every two months, that's being a frequent shopper. I'm very disappointed in Michael's.
I do shop with a local business that closed and went on-line. Amazingly, I can pick up my order from a specific post office about a 20 minute walk from my place, with no shipping charges!! (I'm wondering how long that will last.)
I live in Canada, and the choices are limited. If I ordered from the US, I would have to give up eating for a few months.:lolo: Shipping, duty and the exchange rate - ugh!
Hello fellow crafters in Canada, where are you shopping???
