Just cut a strip of cardstock in the width and height that you need and you can use a corner rounder on the corners, just snip a triangle off each of the top 2 corners (my personal favorite), or you could always but the pre-cut tags! lol Hope I helped!

well there are a few things i did before getting my zipemate...one was my culuzzle templetes...i got it at michaels..those work pretty good. Then i found some punches...they were the mega punches(can't remember the name of them) that i got in two different sizes. I really liked those better.
I usually cut mine like suggested above, out of cardstock as a rectangle. But you can mess up trimming the corners (not having them even) so here's what I do... I have a mat I work on that has one inch grids all over it. I cut most of mine 4.25 by 3.25 (to have room to decorate). I slide one of the rectangle corners to the corner of one of the squares on the grid, then I just cut down the square's diagonal. Then I do the EXACT SAME THING for the other side of the tag top. This way the part I cut on the top is even steven! Not one at a deeper angle than the other!! This works on ANY tag size if you use the grid mat. Just find the angle of cut you like... and then just be sure to line it up the same way on the other side. I LOVE MY GRID!
I do the same....cut the rectangle the size you need. But to do the corners, I found that the Fiskars corner scissors work well. They fit like a corner rounder would on the corners of the cardstock, but there are several versions for different edges. My personal favorite is the sunflower.
To get the corners even, I take the little triangle that gets cut off from one side of rectangular cardstock and flip it over. I then use it as a template for the other side and cut the other side off. You always get matching corners cut from your tags this way.

At convention they showed a really neat trick using the Simplicity Corner Punch, page 219 E1. You cut your cardstock, use the corner punch on 2 corners, and then just cut away the part that you would normally layer with. Perfect everytime.
I have this template and it is only $4.99. I find it very useful if I want to layer my tags, or I want a more unusual shaped tags. I think they do more than one type of tag template.http://www.craftpizazz.com/products/7310
Thank you soo much for all of your ideas!! I especially like the free templates (printing them now!) and the taking the corner you cut from one side and using it to do the other side! I knew someone out there in the wonderful land of SCS could help me with this! Thanks for being so willing!

I have traded with people who will make me tags, I used to cross stitch so I have LOTS of stuff to trade and luckly many stitchers also have sizzex. Try a trade it maybe well worth it.
here is another site for a free tag program you can download. I have it on my computer and you can make any size tags. with or without holes. scallops, regular, southwestern,ETC. you can make ATC's cards also. here is the website.
click on where it says software.. and scroll down to where it says freeware and the tags program will be there. I hope this helps. if you have a problem getting to it give a shout and I'll help you get to it. ok. muticrafter

I also recently found some super size punches with the tags with the double rounded ends (like a scallop on a scallop). The company is MARVY and I found them at Michael's Craft Shop. They had three sizes that you could layer (you would never buy just one, would you?) Be patient and they will go on sale for at least 30% off ... AND THEN STOCK UP! I also just last week saw at Hobby Lobby a tag punch that has 3 punches within the same punch -the littlest tag was for the size of a Lilliputian! (so cute!) You can also be patient and they'll go on sale for 50% off!! I figure anything with a rounded scallopey end I better get a punch - but there's nothing with straight lines and corners that me and my good ole paper cutter and scissors can't manage. Ditto the idea on "flipping over" the first corner cut to make the other corner for a standard straight edge tag! Now, I just need help getting that doggone hole in the middle of the end for the eyelet and/or ribbon! Any quick cures for astigmatism? Tags ROCK!
I have used the large tag shaped punches, and don't forget paint chip samples make dandy tags when punched out. A paper reinforcer when punching a hole in the tag adds snap, and a large eyelet is even better!
You can even buy a tag stamp and just trim with scissors.
