I have been looking at all the beautiful cards in the gallery using the crayon resist and I cant get my cards to look so nice. If I put the ink on with a sponge, its not a solid image, if I use the daubers its "blobs" when I first ink the paper. What am I doing wrong? How do you ink up your paper so smoothly?

I personally use the sponges, but lots of layers then it blends in. I squish up the sponge and use a small piece in order to get it solid. I haven't tried the daubers because I feared it would make circles. Good luck!
You can also use a brayer to apply the ink to the stamped and crayoned image. I usually use sponges, but I had my demo do a Crayon Resist card at my last workshop and we used a brayer to apply the ink.
You can also watercolor over the crayon if you like a different effect!

Great questions Jennifer. I had never done anything but the brayer before but after viewing Gaillyn's card I have to try the sponges. Malindas watercolor sounds good also. The one I linked proves you dont have to use white crayon, I used a dark color so I could see where the strikes are going. The brayering effect removes it and there is no buffing needed. I've always done the crayon resist on glossy. Make sure you are using the right paper. I just use any kind of sponge and keep applying until the paper is the color I want. Multiple colors the same.

I use the sponge daubers, but find that if I have them moving as soon as they hit the paper that they don't make those circle shapes. I sort of move them in a circular motion as I'm putting them on the paper. Because I use glossy paper, it stays dampish until I "buff" with the tissue.

I use a brayer because I think it gives the best coverage. Here's a crayon resist card I made. After I colored in with the white crayon, I used the brayer on yoyo yellow and rubbed it across the top of the glossy stamped image back and forth a few time to get good coverage. Then I cleaned the brayer (ran water over it in the sink and wiped it off) and did the same thing to the bottom in green galore.
Sometimes i use the compact makeup sponges - gives a smoother result. I like the result on usw better than glossy. Once its covered, i then use a tissue to rub it smooth and remove the ink from the crayoned bits.
