Default How do you Ink edges or distress....

I've seen so many awesome cards that have inked edges and distressing. I get the rolling and curling edges, sandpaper and such but what technique do you prefer for the inked edge look?

After experimenting, my ink is too heavy. I've seen direct to ink pad, but please share your techniques. Do you use sponges, daubers etc. Please feel free to respond as lengthy as you wish!

And thanks for your help!

I prefer to use sponges for my edges. I find that you can control the amount of ink best with a nice wedge of sponge. If you don't have enough, you can always keep adding. I'd have to say sponges are one of my favorite stamping tools. I rarely make a card that doesn't have some kind of sponging on it. It always seems to be just the finishing touch I'm looking for.

I just drag the edges of my cardstock across the surface of the ink pad. I drag it at an angle and flick it a little if I want a little more ink showing.

I like sponges the best, too. I have a hard time knowing when to stop, lol, and with sponging it's easier to avoid going overboard.

I have used sponges, daubers, cotton balls, and stipple brushes.. It all depends on what's closest to me when I'm stamping.. lol HTH

There was a brief thread on this earlier in the week that you might find helpful.

Does any one use chalk? I like the look I get with chalk and a cotton ball or sponge.

I very rarely use my chalks for anything. I keep them so I can demo them, but I'd trade them off without second thought if I needed too!

Usually the Stampin' Sponges, quartered and rubbed onto ink pad to pick up the ink. I use the rounded side/edge of the sponge -- you'll get a different look if you use the flatter part of the sponge where it's been cut.

either sponges or daubres.
My son calls it "dusting" the card-I think I stamp a lot around him! LOL
