Default How do you photo your cards?

I'm getting ready to take pictures and upload some cards to my blog, and maybe even to the gallery here. Where is the best place to take the picture? What kind of background do you use? So far, results look awful. I would sure appreciate your help!

I would recommend taking your pics with natural light (by a window), and keeping the bg simple. I use two pieces of white card stock taped together and stand my card up on that, so the focus is on the card, not the bg... hope that helps!

Go to the gallery and look at the cards you like. Notice how the card was photographed--the background, the angle of the card, the props. Copy what you see and pm the artist if you can't figure it out how it was done. You can do it!

For me, lighting always makes a big difference, and the sunnier the better. I used to take my photos on the carpet by the patio door (LOTS of light coming in) but after seeing and liking so many cards being photographed upright on those cute little stands, I'm finding that to be my preference now, so I've moved to a table near a window. And now I find that I also prefer to see a little background rather than a closely-cropped photo; for some reason it gives it more dimension. ??? Linda above had the best suggestion - look at others' work and see what strikes your fancy, then give it a try.
