I'm trying to get a it more organized. Now that I have accumulated quite a few paper punches, I'm looking for suggestions for storing them. I'd like them to be easily accessible st my desk so that I don't have to dig them out when I need them.
I'm considering the over the door shoe holder approach with clear pockets, but does anyone have any other ideas?

I have the over the door shoe holder thing. This was a step up from having to dig thru a big storage container. I still have a bunch of little punches that I don't use as often just in a container. I'm having good luck with the over the door thing. Easy to find what I'm looking for, and then cleanup is easy too.
Personally, I still have to dig through a box. I hate it, but until my son grows up and moves out so I can have a craft room.....
However, I love looking at the photos people have posted on SCS with their craft spaces. I remember one where someone had narrow shelves and the punches standing on end. It looked like a great solution, but would need to be dusted. Check out the photos. I think they were in the "organize your space" challenge.
I have mine in 3 drawer storage containers from Wal-Mart. I have a lot of punches and they all fit in the drawers. I think I have one full container of them. Pull out a drawer and you can see everything in there easily.

Mine are also in the drawers from Wal-Mart. That way they are covered and don't have to be dusted, but when I need them, they are within reach from my chair
But I keep almost everything in those little drawers
I found these wooden organizer things (look like small 5-6 drawer wooden dressers on wheels) at Fleet Farm in the assemble it yourself furniture aisle. I put some rubber shelf liner in there (keeps stuff from sliding when the drawer is opened and closed) and they hold all my punches flat. One drawer has decorative scissors on one side and hand held punches on the other. Then there are 2-3 drawers of the other punches. Another drawer holds colored pencils, chalks, and aqua crayons. I think there might be another small catch all drawer that holds the wire works stuff. The bottom drawer is deeper and holds the light table, crimper, etc. This little organizer sits close to my workspace...so everything is within reach. Plus it looks neat. An iris cart or plastic organizer from walmart is probably the same thing....

I saw a neat idea where someone had taken a metal (mesh?) cutlery drawer sorter, nailed it to the wall, and stored the different size punches in there. The sorter looked like it might have been from IKEA. If I had enough wall space that is what I would do, mostly just because it looked so cool! ;-)
If I see the pic again I'll post it here.

how do you store
Right now mine are in a Longaberger basket sewing notion size but of course I do not pick it up due to the weight... and the bigger ones on the table next to the basket... I am wanting to hand the over the door type too...great idea
I had my husband make me a little shelf with a lip on it so I could prop the punches against the wall and see what I have. It's great! I have outgrown it though. I have about 75 percent of Stampin' Up!'s punches. I love 'em! Looks like I have another thing to add to his honey do list.

I too, use this system and love it. You can find all your punches right away and they sit on my work table. Easy access.
I have too many punches to sit out on my desk. I keep them in one of those iris 6 drawer rolling carts that I got from Staples. I separated them into categories, such as circles, squares, flowers, snowflakes, etc(I told you that I had a lot!) . I drilled a hole through each drawer and attached a labeled aluminum circle tag with a brad!! No more time spent rummaging through all of my supplies!!
Years ago I bought the over the door punch holders by crop in style. They can hook onto each other to make it cover the entire door. I have several. They have varying plastic pocket sizes for the different punches. Makes them really easy to find at a glance but now DH sees how many I have and teases me LOL
I think shoe holders over the door work great too. I have one on the other side of the door (my sb/stamping area is a walk in closet off my regular closet so I can use both sides of the door). I keep stuff I want to reach a lot in the shoe holder but it would work for punches. HTH Andrea
I've also got two of the Punch Pals from Crop in Style. They hang over a door and one hangs from the bottom of the other. When I bought it, I didn't even fill up half of the spaces available, but I've managed to fill up quite a bit more of them since then!
I used to store mine in plastic tubs but got tired of bending down to get them all the time so I recently bought a 3 drawer, table top, Iris cart. I sort them by size (biggest in the bottom drawer). I like having them within reach now!
[QUOTE=I still can't find the cutlery drawer divider that I described earlier in this thread. If anybody else finds it, please post it here.[/QUOTE]
I think it was MamaKimberly who posted that. If I remember correctly, she just attached a thumbnail to her post. Search her posts or PM her and I'll bet you find it.
I only have around 10 small punches(that I got from a local dollar general). They are stored in a tackle box (Wal-mart). I only own 1 whale of a punch (square) for now! I am working on getting more
Yay, thank you, JWheeler for reminding me that it was just an attachment. I had already searched through her gallery and couldn't figure out why it wasn't there! Anyway, I had saved it to my computer so here it is:
