I have only been stamping for about 7-8 months. I have really had a lot of fun doing it. My demo told me about this site, and I thank God that she did, I have learned so much from you ladies. You guys have really kept me motivated to learn more. Thanks.

I have been head over heals with stamping since Feb 2003. I went to my first SU party, was sick, but knew immediately that I HAD to have everything.
All of my friends started in 2000 and I told them they were all crazy for spending so much money (I think the person with the most "stuff" had maybe three sets). Now I'm the only one who still stamps and have over 100 sets. Go figure.
I do love polls! I am fascinated by what people think and what they do and their preferences. I think chatboards are a wonderful way to see how others think!
I started stamping in 1995 and agree with some of the other posters - the early years are not so good; but I've gotten better through the years with time, SU awesome supplies and inspiration!!!

I began doing minimal stamping waaaay back in the 70s. Went to a DOTS party in the early 80s and collected many stamps and supplies and did a fair amount of stamping then. Then kids came along and I did only a little. A year and half or so ago I was invited to a SU party and well... I have been doing quite a bit of stamping (and buying) since then. Even got my mom interested (not to buy, but to use my stuff, but that's ok too - gives her an excuse to come and visit me!!!) I found SCS in June of this year and have been having a great time! Thanks everyone for your great ideas, suggestions, gallery submissions, etc.!!!
Wow! I couldn't believe I was part of the majority. I've been stamping since 2002. And I love it. I've loved it since my first SU party that I was so reluctant to go to.
I think I was interested in rubber stamping since time began! I actually went to a store that made business stamps and had them make my kids names and a few words such as noel etc for Christmas wrapping paper! I think that was in the early 1980's! Do I win????

Very interesting poll, I wonder this same question about all the awesome stampers on SCS!
I hit 6 months in August so I am still new at it but it doesnt take long to get the hang of it with all the ideas on this site!
It will be 2 years for me next month! :-) I had dabbled in stamping years ago--Michael's stuff, mainly--but let it go for yeeeeeeearrrrrrs. Now I'm a demo.
I bought my first set of stamps in 1990 (I was still a teenager). I used to order stamps directly from Inkadinkadoo, because I had no idea where else to get them. I found SU in 1999, but I was already a CM consultant. (I've been scrapbooking since 1983, when I was barely a teenager on the front end of teenage years). Before the days of heat guns I used to use my iron to melt my embossing powder (in my dorm room - never used the iron for ironing).
My daughter introduced me to stamping in June of this year. I bought some stamps in June, finally stamped a card about 2 weeks ago and have been having a ball ever sincemessing around with inks and all the fun goodies available.
My dh asked me about how much money I had invested in a card I sent his mother and I told him about 2 or 3 hundred. He just shook his head and went on about his business. LOL
