I am a Aussie, who married a American and now live in the USA. I always did scrapbooking at home, but was introduced to SU by a friend who is a demo, and got hooked, as i think we all did!!!
I was just wondering how many aussies are out there living in the USA......I would love to be in contact with some, as i am pretty homesick right now.
I'm not an Aussie but my daughter has a very good friend that came right from down under. She is oriental (he's not) and it sure is cute to see this little and I mean little tiny oriental girl with this Aussie accent living in Michigan. They have no family here at all so my daughter is like her Amberican sister. Very nice couple.
After telling the stories of Aussie spiders my daugther has no desire to go there now.
I can understand you being homesick as I moved here from Kansas to live in my husbands home state and it was a little lonely at first and I wasn't near as far away as you are. Just be thankful you live in an age of computers so it's easier to keep in contact.
I am an Aussie and although i dont live in the states I just wanted to say a big G'day to ya and let you know I was thinking about you! Being homesick isnt a nice feeling, but computers are a great way of keeping in touch!
Yes, Australia needs SU!!!! I want to move back there in the next few years and would love to demo SU there!!!!
Great to hear from some Aussies!!! Or people who know them!
And yes the big world of the internet is great, cept my mother has no idea how to use a puter, so until i get to give her lesson, she will not connect to it. Mine is there, she could be using it!!! I however use it alot, and we now have a VOIP ( voice over internet phone ) which gives me cheap calls there. Yay!
Hi Sonya, I started out at the bottom of the south island then moved to Christchurch. I lived in Wanganui for a few months. Then when I was 21 moved to Perth. We are planning on moving somewhere around Noosa - I've never seen it except on the internet but DH loved that part of the country. Where are you from?

I'm not an Aussie, but close enough ... I'm in New Zealand! I think I'm the only NZ resident on this list, but if not, any other Kiwis please let me know. I know some of my NZ friends lurk here - Split Coast is so highly thought of for ideas and inspiration. Keep it up!

I love both NZ and OZ and would move back to either of them in a heartbeat. I was born here in Colorado, my husband in North Dakota. Nearly 15 years ago, we were engaged and accepted a 3 year work assignment as part of a 25 member team to start up Clear Communications to compete with the local phone company in NZ. We flew back here to get married. We basically worked and honeymooned for 3 years in NZ. We truly saw nearly all of NZ. I have never seen water that is such a beautiful color as I saw in NZ, those greenish blues were amazing. We spent about 6 months total in OZ after our work contract. If we could have found work we would have stayed there for at least another year to see OZ somewhat properly. Both countries are fabulous as are the residents! The funny story about travelling in OZ is we didn't know we could have taken a high speed train down the coast from Darwin. We were taking these clunky old buses. Both my husband and I remember Whitsunday because it was gorgeous and I couldn't bring myself to get back on the bus again. I pleaded with him to stay in Whitsunday and we could find another bus to get us down the rest of the way. He almost lost his wife there! He finally convinced me to get on the bus---but I was SO DONE with that bus.
We have many friends we keep in touch with in both countries. Some of our kiwi friends have since moved to Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. I know we will have a lovely stay down under visiting everyone so that our kiddos can see all the places we show them in our photo albums.
Such fond memories, such beautiful places to live down under!
PS: I know shipping is outrageous to get things down there (I just shipped some special basket ball shoes down for a friend). But if there is ever some set of stamping supplies you "need" and can't get down there, I would be happy to help get them to you.
ya, i know shipping costs are bad. I send my mother and lil bro gifts all the time, and just now sending a lil 10lbs box for $45-$50, and i am sure the stuff inside is only worth $20!!!!
My lil bro is a diabetic, and the USA has soooo much fab stuff here for him!
I am glad so many people love both OZ and NZ! I think they are both great places also!
Bridget, we love Noosa. Dh and I used to take weekend trips there all the time. In fact, we are planning a trip home later this year (hopefully) and intend to spend some time in Noosa and have family come visit us there rather than travel the whole country seeing everyone!
I have family all over NZ. I loved Christchurch. I have fond memories of touring NZ as a child.
Yes, shipping is outrageous. I can usually spend in excess of $100 posting Christmas presents each December--to each family!!
Been to NZ, sister is making her 6th trip to OZ this summer (your winter).
She wants to know of recommended stamping stores near Coolangatta, Melbourne and Sydney. She's got the yarn and book shops down. Friend will be able to drive her around or she busses, so any suggestions would be welcome.
I'm from NSW Australia,
It is amazing that we are so close, yet so far away, isn't it!!
I have only been making cards for about 6 months, I was introduced by my friend, who moved here from the states.
I have got to admit, I would be FANTASTIC if SU could come over to Australia. I know alot about SU through my friend, and we really have nothing on the market here that even compares.
Keep in touch....

Oooohhhh!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Australia!! It is, has been and always will be my favorite place on the planet!! I have been there a handle full of times and am going again for a month this November. Can't get enough of the place, I just wish it wasn't so far away!! The only 2 states I have left to thoroughly explore is the NT and WA. Definately have many favorite places though. My friends are a bit scattered around throughout VIC, NSW and QLD. One of my girlfriends (we started out as penpals nearly 18 yrs ago) loves the US as much as I love AU and we often joke about how we think we were born in the wrong countries!!
I know what you mean about the cost of postage  . Each time I send packages for Christmas, the clerk at the post office always says "Do you know that you are mailing to one of the most expensive postal countries?", yep, I know.... I've been doing it for years! Another thing I wish we had here is a better choice of long distance calling plans. My Aussie sweetheart (coming to see me for a month , 74 days and counting!!!) has a great plan thru Telstra that I wish we had here. Our telephone bills are unbelievable some months   !!
Glad to know that there are both Aussie's & Kiwi's here! (I've only been to Auckland, so far). If you ever need anything from SU, I'd be happy to send it down!
Have a wonderful day ladies! Happy stamping
Dotty

Have you ever heard of a VOIP phone ?? its voice over ip. My hubby's company has them now, so we got our hands on one to trial for them to OZ, it runs over our highspeed internet. I am not a tech person, but he could explain it more for me if people needed me too. But anyways, it saves us alot of cash now, on long distance calls to oz, and within the USA. Its like 5 cents a min max for me.
No, I've never heard of it before but would be very interested in learning more! 5 cents a min. would be great! Is there a website? Where in Iowa are you?
